Job summary

Inject Care Parenterals in India seeks a Plant Head Operations to lead production, QA/QC, engineering, maintenance, and supply chain to ensure compliant, efficient manufacturing. The role drives operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and safety while steering cost control, KPIs, and cross-functional collaboration.

A senior leader with cGMP knowledge and deep pharma manufacturing experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Extensive leadership experience in pharma manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP, regulatory inspections, QMS and EHS.
  • Financial acumen and budget management capability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for all plant operations including QA, QC, engineering and maintenance.
  • Drive production planning, performance KPIs, cost efficiency and TPM/5S initiatives.
  • Ensure cGMP compliance, regulatory readiness, audits and CAPA closure.
  • Oversee engineering, maintenance, and utilities with emphasis on OEE and reliability.
  • Coordinate supply chain activities to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing.
  • Mentor department heads and foster cross-functional collaboration.
  • Maintain safety culture and environmental, health & safety standards.
  • Manage budgets, track KPIs, and drive profitability for the plant.
  • Collaborate with QA, Regulatory Affairs, HR, Finance and Commercial teams.

Plant Head Operations
Job Responsibilities (JR)
1. Plant Operations Management
  • Provide overall leadership and responsibility for all plant operations, including Production, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Engineering, Maintenance, Warehouse, Utilities, and other support functions.
  • Ensure smooth, efficient, and uninterrupted plant operations to achieve business objectives.
  • Review daily production performance and initiate corrective and preventive actions wherever required.
  • Optimize plant productivity, operational efficiency, capacity utilization, and equipment effectiveness.
2. Production & Operational Excellence
  • Ensure achievement of production plans and targets while maintaining product quality, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor and improve manufacturing performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), 5S, and Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Identify and implement productivity enhancement and cost optimization initiatives.
3. Quality & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Quality Management System (QMS), Data Integrity, and applicable national and international regulatory requirements.
  • Promote and sustain a strong quality culture across the organization.
  • Maintain continuous audit readiness for regulatory authorities, customers, and certification agencies.
  • Support regulatory inspections, customer audits, and internal audits.
  • Ensure timely investigation and closure of audit observations, deviations, CAPAs, and compliance commitments.
  • Coordinate with the Regulatory Affairs department to support product registrations, regulatory submissions, and compliance activities.
4. Engineering & Maintenance
  • Ensure effective preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of plant equipment and utilities.
  • Improve equipment reliability, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and plant uptime.
  • Ensure engineering systems comply with GMP and safety requirements.
5. Supply Chain & Warehouse Management
  • Coordinate with Planning, Purchase, Warehouse, QA, QC, and Logistics to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock while minimizing shortages and excess inventory.
  • Ensure efficient warehouse operations, material handling, storage, and inventory control in compliance with GMP requirements.
6. People Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop department heads and plant personnel to build a high-performance organization.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, employee engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Identify training needs and support employee development and succession planning.
7. EHS & Statutory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards and all applicable statutory and legal requirements.
  • Promote a safe working environment and drive initiatives to prevent accidents and occupational hazards.
  • Ensure implementation of safety programs, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness.
8. Financial & Performance Management
  • Prepare and monitor plant budgets and control operating costs without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Review departmental KPIs and drive continuous performance improvement.
  • Analyze operational data and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and profitability.
9. Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Collaborate with QA, QC, Engineering, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, HR, Finance, and Commercial teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among all departments for smooth business operations.
  • Participate in strategic planning, capacity expansion, technology upgrades, and business improvement initiatives.
Experience
  • 2030 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Minimum 10–12 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in pharmaceutics Industry.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP, regulatory inspections, validation, QMS, EHS, and pharmaceutical manufacturing systems.
  • CTC- 20 to 30
