Job summary

RGBSI is seeking a Plant HSE Officer to develop and monitor environmental, health, and safety programs at our manufacturing facility in India. The role ensures compliance with applicable regulations, minimizes risks, and fosters a proactive safety culture among plant personnel.

Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, leading safety inspections and audits, investigating incidents, and delivering comprehensive HSE training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental) is required.
  • Professional HSE certification (NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30-Hour, IOSH, or local equivalent) is desirable.
  • 5–10 years of proven HSE experience in a manufacturing/industrial plant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations and maintain permits and licenses.
  • Conduct risk assessments and JSAs; implement CAPAs to mitigate hazards.
  • Lead safety inspections and HSE audits across the plant and enforce corrective measures.
  • Investigate near-misses, accidents, and environmental incidents; prepare root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Design and deliver HSE induction and specialized safety training (fire, chemical handling, LOTO, etc.).
  • Develop, update, and maintain the plant ERP; organize fire drills and evacuation simulations.
  • Promote a Zero Harm safety culture through campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety committees.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental)
Professional HSE certification (NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30-Hour, IOSH, or local equivalent)
5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing/industrial plant HSE role

Job description

The Plant HSE Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace environmental, health, and safety programs. This role ensures the manufacturing plant complies with all local, national, and international HSE regulations, minimizes workplace risks, and fosters a proactive safety culture among all plant personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance & Regulations: Ensure the plant operates in full compliance with relevant safety legislation (e.g., OSHA, local environmental protection acts). Maintain all necessary HSE permits and licenses.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and job safety analyses (JSAs) to identify potential hazards. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Inspections & Audits: Lead routine safety inspections and comprehensive HSE audits across the plant. Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and enforce corrective measures.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of all near-misses, accidents, and environmental incidents. Determine root causes and prepare detailed incident reports with recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Training & Development: Design and deliver HSE induction training for new hires, contractors, and specialized safety training (e.g., fire safety, chemical handling, confined space entry, LOTO) for existing staff.
  • Emergency Response: Develop, update, and maintain the plants Emergency Response Plan (ERP). Organize regular fire drills and emergency evacuation simulations.
  • Environmental Management: Monitor plant waste management, emissions, and wastewater discharge to ensure environmental compliance. Promote sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Safety Culture: Promote a "Zero Harm" safety culture through safety campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety committee meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental), Occupational Health & Safety, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Certifications: Professional HSE certification is highly desirable (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30-Hour, IOSH, or local equivalent state safety diplomas).
  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of proven experience as an HSE Officer or Specialist strictly within a manufacturing or industrial plant environment.
