Job summary

RGBSI is seeking a Plant HSE Officer in Mumbai to develop, implement, and monitor workplace environmental, health, and safety programs. You will ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations, minimize risks, and foster a proactive safety culture among plant personnel.

The role focuses on risk assessments, incident investigations, training, ERP maintenance, environmental management, and safety campaigns to achieve Zero Harm at the plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related scientific discipline.
• Professional HSE certification is highly desirable (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30-Hour, IOSH).
• Experience: 5 to 10 years in HSE Officer or Specialist in a manufacturing/industrial plant.

Responsibilities

• Ensure plant operates in full compliance with safety legislation and maintain HSE permits.
• Conduct risk assessments and JSAs; implement CAPA actions.
• Lead safety inspections and HSE audits; enforce corrective measures.
• Lead investigations of near-misses, accidents, and environmental incidents; prepare reports with preventive recommendations.
• Design and deliver HSE induction and specialized safety training (fire safety, chemical handling, confined space, LOTO).
• Develop, update, and maintain Emergency Response Plan; organize fire drills and evacuations.
• Monitor waste management, emissions, and wastewater; promote sustainability.
• Promote a Zero Harm safety culture through campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety committees.

The Plant HSE Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace environmental, health, and safety programs. This role ensures the manufacturing plant complies with all local, national, and international HSE regulations, minimizes workplace risks, and fosters a proactive safety culture among all plant personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Compliance & Regulations: Ensure the plant operates in full compliance with relevant safety legislation (e.g., OSHA, local environmental protection acts). Maintain all necessary HSE permits and licenses.
• Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and job safety analyses (JSAs) to identify potential hazards. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Inspections & Audits: Lead routine safety inspections and comprehensive HSE audits across the plant. Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and enforce corrective measures.
• Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of all near-misses, accidents, and environmental incidents. Determine root causes and prepare detailed incident reports with recommendations to prevent recurrence.
• Training & Development: Design and deliver HSE induction training for new hires, contractors, and specialized safety training (e.g., fire safety, chemical handling, confined space entry, LOTO) for existing staff.
• Emergency Response: Develop, update, and maintain the plants Emergency Response Plan (ERP). Organize regular fire drills and emergency evacuation simulations.
• Environmental Management: Monitor plant waste management, emissions, and wastewater discharge to ensure environmental compliance. Promote sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.
• Safety Culture: Promote a "Zero Harm" safety culture through safety campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety committee meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental), Occupational Health & Safety, or a related scientific discipline.
• Certifications: Professional HSE certification is highly desirable (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30-Hour, IOSH, or local equivalent state safety diplomas).
• Experience: 5 to 10 years of proven experience as an HSE Officer or Specialist strictly within a manufacturing or industrial plant environment.
