Job summary

People Tree is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer / Scheduler in Ahmedabad, Gujarat to join the project controls team. The role requires expert Primavera P6 skills, proficiency in MS Project, and the ability to develop and analyse CPM schedules for construction projects for US-based clients.

You will read contract documents, build detailed baselines, update progress, perform critical path analysis, and deliver compliant schedule submissions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in construction project planning and scheduling, with expert-level Primavera P6 skills.
• Certification in Primavera P6 / project management is an added advantage.
• B.E. in Civil Engineering or PG degree in Construction Project Management.
• Experience working with US-based clients in an outsourcing setup is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret contract documents to understand scope, milestones, and contractual requirements.
• Develop detailed baseline CPM schedules in Primavera P6 with WBS, activity coding, logic ties, calendars, constraints and milestones.
• Prepare and maintain schedules in MS Project when required and exchange schedules between MS Project and P6.
• Resource-load and cost-load schedules, and support earned value / progress measurement.
• Perform monthly/weekly schedule updates: record progress, update durations, and re-forecast completion dates.
• Prepare schedule narratives explaining progress, critical path, float consumption, variances, and changes.
• Run critical path and float analysis, identify delays and risks, and recommend mitigations.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules, progress reports, S-curves, and dashboards.
• Support Time Impact Analysis (TIA) and fragnets for change orders, delays, and claims.
• Run schedule quality checks per client criteria.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and client teams to gather progress data and resolve schedule issues.
• Maintain schedule documentation, revision history, and submission records.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Planning Engineer / Scheduler to join our project controls team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Primavera P6, comfortable working in MS Project, and able to develop, update and analyse CPM schedules for construction and infrastructure projects, delivering accurate, specification-compliant schedule submissions for US-based clients.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Read and interpret contract documents, drawings, and specification sections (including scheduling specifications) to understand scope, milestones, and contractual requirements.
• Develop detailed baseline CPM schedules in Primavera P6, including WBS, activity coding, logic ties, calendars, constraints, and milestones.
• Prepare and maintain schedules in MS Project where required by the client, and convert/exchange schedules between MS Project and P6 (XER/XML).
• Resource-load and cost-load schedules, and support earned value / progress measurement as required.
• Perform periodic (monthly/weekly) schedule updates: record actual progress, update remaining durations, and re-forecast completion dates.
• Prepare schedule narratives explaining progress, critical path, float consumption, variances, and logic or duration changes.
• Run critical path and float analysis, identify delays and risks, and recommend recovery or mitigation measures.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules (2-week/3-week/6-week), progress reports, S-curves, and dashboards.
• Support Time Impact Analysis (TIA) and fragnets for change orders, delays, and claims.
• Run schedule quality checks (open ends, out-of-sequence progress, excessive constraints/lags, negative float) per client criteria.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and client teams to gather progress data and resolve schedule issues.
• Maintain schedule documentation, revision history, and submission records.

Required Skills

• Expert-level knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6 (EPPM/Professional):
• Working experience in Microsoft Project for schedule development and updating.
• Strong understanding of CPM scheduling principles, critical path, float, and delay analysis concepts.
• Good written English for schedule narratives, reports, and client correspondence.

Qualifications

• B.E. in Civil Engineering or Post-Graduate (PG) degree in Construction Project Management.
• At least 3 years of relevant planning and scheduling experience on construction/infrastructure projects.
• Expert in Primavera P6 and experienced in MS Project.
• Experience working with US-based clients in an outsourcing setup is preferred.
