Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking Piping Engineers – Stress with 5-12 years of experience for our Mumbai office. Responsibilities include static and dynamic analysis of piping systems, load calculations, and preparation of stress reports in multi-disciplinary projects across nuclear, O&G, and petrochemical sectors.

Candidate should have strong BE/M.E. in Mechanical Engineering, proficiency in major piping stress tools (CAESAR II, Autopipe, Pipestress PepS), and knowledge of ASME/ASTM/API standards.

Qualifications

• Strong piping stress analysis concepts and ability to perform piping stress and supports analysis of critical piping systems.
• Experienced with analysis software such as CAESAR II, Autopipe, Pipestress (PepS), STAAD or RSTAB, Nozzle Pro.
• Knowledge of international design codes and standards (ASME BPVC, ASME B31.x) and API Standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform static and dynamic analysis of complex piping systems.
• Prepare piping stress design guidelines and review stress reports and seismic movements.
• Calculate and select supports, hangers and expansions and prepare data sheets for piping supports.
• Provide engineering advice on plant integrity issues and liaise with stakeholders.

Overview

To meet the increasing demand of our expertise in the nuclear industry we have now multiple opportunities for different grades for Piping Engineers – Stress with experience ranging from 5-12 years in piping systems and pressure vessel design to join the nuclear team at our AtkinsRealis Bangalore / Mumbai / Gurgaon office. (Within the industries such as Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Nuclear Power, Civil, Conventional Power and other related industries.

Your role

• Strong piping stress analysis concepts and ability to perform piping stress and supports analysis of critical piping systems.Perform static and dynamic analysis (Time history and Response Spectrum analysis) of complex systems.Perform calculations such as PSV Reaction Forces, Steam Hammer, Hydraulic Forces and 2 phase slug forces.Perform wear pad requirements, trunnion calculations ad saddle support design.
• Prepare Piping Stress Design Guideline Based On Project Requirements.Review & Checking Stress Reports, Equipment GA's, FRS & Seismic Anchor Movements (SAM), Stress Model Breakups & Critical Line List.
• Preparation of support loads to structures team and qualify primary support validations. Knowledge on Secondary support validation would be an added advantageCalculate and Select Spring hanger supports, Expansion joints, struts, snubbers. And Prepare data sheets for the special piping supports.
• Provide engineering advice and technical solutions in relation to plant integrity issues on operational assets;Perform flange leakage checks using different methods.
• Prepare technical notes and piping stress analysis reports considering project specifications.Liaising with all stakeholders and responsible for all technical issues related to their area of specialisation; Co-ordination with other discipline specialists where areas interface or overlap exist.
• Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision and work effectively as a team member on all assignments.Flexible to take up tasks as per project and organisation requirements.

About you

• Suitable degree in Mechanical engineering (ME/BE, M.Tech/B.Tech or equivalent)Experience in Nuclear, Power, Oil & Gas or other highly regulated industrial environment preferred.Design experience in piping, pipe support and pipe layout.Experience in mechanical design and assessment.Proficiency in static, dynamic and thermal stress analysis.Exposure to piping fabrication, installation, testing.Demonstrable knowledge of design projects, or relevant experience/knowledge of process plant operations is desirable.
• Experienced with analysis software such as CAESARII, Autopipe, Pipestress (PepS), STAAD or RSTAB, Nozzle Pro. Proficiency in software tools like CAEPIPE, AutoCAD; knowledge of E3D, P3D, SP3D and other equipment design platforms highly desirable.Knowledge of material selection.Familiar with international design codes and standards (such as: ASME BPVC Section III NC & ND, RCC-M, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, BS EN 13480-3) and various other ASME/ASTM, API Standards for piping components.
• Knowledge of recommended practices pertaining to mechanical design, fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, quality assurance and quality control etc is desirable.Ability to work independently or as part of team, flexible attitude to the type of work and the level of responsibility accepted.
• Proven computer aptitude, and expertise in MS office. Experience in developing digital tools highly desirable.Ability to understand and define client's requirements, plan & schedule deliverables, timelines.
• Proven strong problem solving, organisational and interpersonal skills.Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to write accurate, detailed and concise technical reports (e.g. design substantiations, basis of analysis, safety case support references).Flexible in travelling to Atkins' and client's'office locations around the world, if required.
