Job summary

Fluor Corp in India is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support piping stress analysis on EPC projects in Hydrocarbon and Petrochemical sectors. The role requires applying ASME B31.3/B31.1, ANSI and API codes and coordinating with projects, procurement, and vendors.

You will develop and review specifications, perform calculations, and assist the Lead in cost‑effective solutions. A Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 5–12 years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or equivalent.
  • 5 to 12 years of relevant piping stress engineering experience in EPC organizations serving Hydrocarbon, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Refining, Fertilizer, Power, Metal & Mining, or related process industries.
  • Hands-on experience performing piping stress analysis with knowledge of piping codes and standards.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with projects, procurement, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of Pipe Stress Analysis, Engineered Item Data Sheet & RFQ, Layout & Support concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead in applying cost-effective engineering techniques for the discipline.
  • Develop and review specifications and design criteria.
  • Participate in procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
  • Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderately difficult engineering problems.
  • Review vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements.

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide intermediate technical knowledge, and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position supports the Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects and evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques to a small set of moderately difficult assignments. • Assist the Lead in employing cost competitive engineering techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work

• Develop and review specifications, including design criteria

• Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting

• Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of moderate engineering complexity

• Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution

• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines

• Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

Educational Qualification : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or equivalent.

Experience : 5 to 12 years of relevant experience in Pipe Stress Engineering within EPC organizations serving Hydrocarbon, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Refining, Fertilizer, Power, Metal & Mining, or related process industries.

Required Skill:

• Should have hands on experience of performing Piping stress analysis.

• Should possess good knowledge of different Piping Codes for Pressure Piping, ASME B31.3, ASME B 31.1, ANSI, API etc.

• Should possess good communication skills and should have coordinated with projects, procurement, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.

• Should possess good understanding of Pipe Stress Analysis, Engineered Item Data Sheet & RFQ, Layout & Support selection concept.

Other Job Requirements

Should have hands on experience in –

  • Review of Piping stress specifications, Job Instruction for Pipe Stress Activity,

  • Piping stress analysis of piping connected to Pump, Compressor(Reciprocating/Centrifugal), Column, Reactor, Storage Tanks, Steam Turbines, Air coolers, Exchangers, Fired Heater , Pipe rack.

  • Piping Analysis with Slug flow, Seismic, PSV, GRE Piping, Underground Piping

  • Preparation/Review of RFQ for Engineered Items(Spring Hanger/Expansion Joint/Snubber/Struts), TBE, vendor data review.

  • Analysis Software: Autopipe/Caesar II
