Job summary

SSOE Group is seeking a Mechanical Designer in Mumbai to support industrial projects using Plant3D or 2D AutoCAD for P&ID CAD and basic 3D design. The role interfaces with a USA-based team and international colleagues, emphasizing detail, collaboration, and teamwork.

An ideal candidate will have A/E experience and plant P&ID exposure, with strong communication skills and the ability to work during US-friendly evening hours.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D for P&IDs.
• Basic Plant3D knowledge for equipment modeling and piping design.
• Exposure to MicroStation preferred.
• 3–5 years of P&ID CAD and piping design experience.
• Strong English communication within multidisciplinary teams.

An ideal candidate will have previous A/E experience and chemical plant P&ID experience as well as a passion for producing very detailed work, collaboration and teamwork. Due to the international team structure, the ability to communicate will be key to success.

• Ability to read and understand P&ID markups provided by engineering and transfer into CAD using P&ID drafting best practices
• Basic equipment modeling and piping design using 3D software
• Efficiently multi-task between multiple projects
• Good written and oral communication skills due to project teams potentially being spread around different offices

Qualifications

What will you bring?

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D for P&IDs
• Basic knowledge of Plant3D for equipment modeling and piping design.
• Exposure to MicroStation is preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in P&ID CAD creation and piping design within industrial or process plant environments.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within small, multidisciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrated initiative, leadership potential, and willingness to assume increased responsibilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, adaptable to diverse stakeholder groups.
• Must be adaptable to work during evening hours to ensure communication with stakeholders in the USA.
