Job Summary

The Physician Assistant will support consultants and clinical teams in delivering comprehensive patient care through clinical assessments, patient monitoring, documentation, and coordination of diagnostic and therapeutic services. The role involves working collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and quality patient care in a 500-bedded multispecialty hospital.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist consultants and treating physicians in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients.
2. Obtain and document patients medical histories, presenting complaints, and relevant clinical information.
3. Conduct preliminary patient assessments, including monitoring vital signs and identifying changes in clinical condition.
4. Assist physicians during ward rounds, outpatient consultations, and inpatient reviews.
5. Monitor patients’ clinical progress and promptly report any deterioration or abnormal findings to the treating physician.
6. Assist in developing and implementing patient care plans under the supervision and direction of the treating physician.
7. Coordinate laboratory investigations, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures as prescribed by the physician.
8. Assist in performing clinical procedures within the scope of training, competency, and hospital protocols.
9. Support the preparation and maintenance of accurate patient medical records, clinical notes, and treatment documentation.
10. Coordinate with nursing staff, laboratory personnel, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments to ensure continuity of care.
11. Assist in patient admission, transfer, discharge, and follow-up coordination as directed by the treating physician.
12. Provide patients and their families with information regarding investigations, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions as authorized by the treating physician.
13. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, infection prevention practices, and patient safety standards.
14. Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure proper handling of medical records and sensitive clinical information.
15. Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, training programs, and departmental activities as required.
