Job summary

Infosys Bengaluru is seeking an experienced PHP Lead for backend and web applications built with Laravel. You will own technical planning, estimations, and sprint execution to ensure timely, high‑quality releases, while defining standards and reusable patterns.

You will mentor engineers, review code, design scalable APIs, and collaborate with product, frontend, and QA teams to guarantee smooth integration, testing, and release readiness, while continuously improving deployment reliability.

Qualifications

• 5–9 years of backend/web development experience with strong PHP
• Strong experience building applications using Laravel, including routing, middleware, authentication, and ORM usage
• Experience leading modules/teams, conducting code reviews, and driving engineering execution
• Solid understanding of backend fundamentals: RESTful APIs, application security, performance optimization, and debugging
• Education: BTECH / BCA / MCA / MTECH

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership & Delivery
• Lead end-to-end development of backend services and web applications using PHP and Laravel
• Own technical planning, estimations, and sprint execution to ensure timely and high-quality releases
• Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and reusable patterns across the team
• Review code, guide refactoring, and ensure maintainability, performance, and security of applications

Architecture & Collaboration

• Design scalable application architecture and contribute to technical decision-making and trade-offs
• Collaborate with product and stakeholders to refine requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Work with frontend and QA teams to ensure smooth integration, testing, and release readiness

Mentorship & Continuous Improvement

• Mentor engineers through pairing, feedback, and technical guidance to strengthen team capability
• Identify bottlenecks and improve development workflows, deployment practices, and operational reliability

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5–9 years of professional experience in backend/web development with strong hands-on expertise in PHP
• Strong experience building applications using Laravel, including routing, middleware, authentication, and ORM usage
• Experience leading modules/teams, conducting code reviews, and driving engineering execution
• Solid understanding of backend fundamentals: RESTful APIs, application security, performance optimization, and debugging
• Education: BTECH / BCA / MCA / MTECH

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing and maintaining scalable APIs and service-oriented backend components in Laravel
• Proven ability to guide architecture decisions, manage technical debt, and improve codebase health over time
• Strong experience with database design and query optimization for high-traffic applications
• Familiarity with automated testing practices and improving release confidence through better test coverage
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders
