Likes

The campus Infra is one of the strongest aspects of the institute. Facilities like gym, laundry, mess, and sports block are well maintained and provide you a positive environment. The campus is clean, organised and generally pleasant.

Dislikes

I joined the IRD section at IIITD in Sep 2024 as an outsourced employee. My overall experience was extremely negative due to the work environment and management style within the department. Although i was hired for a defined Administrative role, over time i was assigned responsibilities far beyond my scope this included database handling ,File tracking , FMS, Vouchers Scanning Enclosing , Reco, Asset Records, Peoposal , Handling MoUs, ERP, and even external errands like bank visits, Stamp purchasing etc. the workload expanded significantly and often covered responsibilities typically handled at multiple levels. In my experience this created an imbalance where a large portion of operational work depended on a single outsourced employee. Despite handling a wide range of tasks and contributing to process improvements there was no proportional recognition or adjustment in role expectation. The work culture felt highly controlled and mentally exhausting. There was frequent monitoring of routine activities, excessive questioning over minor issues and pressure around non-essential practices. Instead of simplifying processes, some workflows felt unnecessarily complicated which reduced efficiency. I also observed communication that I personally found discouraging. For example remarks about employees being “needy” did not feel appropriate in a professional setting. In reality everyone works for financial and career reasons and such statements can impact morale. Additionally, after completing my notice period and formally exiting the organisation I received communication regarding koi file ya koi paper nahi mil rahe hai use pata hoga use call karo. I believe that once an employee has officially left after serving NP, there should be clear boundaries regarding responsibilities. Compensation was another concern. The expectations and the workload were significantly higher compared to the compensation offered for the role. While I stayed to gain experience and because I appreciated the campus environment, day to day work conditions were not sustainable for me. I would advise candidates to carefully evaluate role expectation and work culture before joining this particular section. Other department within the institute may offer a different and more balanced experience. This review reflects my personal experience and is shared to help future candidates make informed decisions. PS: If the concerned management reads this I would strongly suggest reflecting on certain behaviours that may be percieved as inappropriate or unfair from an employee perspective. ~Abhishek Singh_OS
