Key Responsibilities
Medication Dispensing and Patient Counseling
- Dispense prescription medications accurately, ensuring proper dosages, formulations, and labeling.
- Counsel patients on the safe and effective use of prescribed medications, including potential side effects, interactions, and precautions.
- Provide guidance on over-the-counter medications and non-prescription treatments as needed.
Pharmaceutical Care
- Conduct medication reviews to ensure that prescriptions are appropriate and align with patients health needs.
- Monitor and manage drug therapy to avoid adverse effects and ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
- Assist in creating individualized treatment plans in collaboration with healthcare providers.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety
- Ensure that all pharmaceutical activities comply with regulatory requirements and pharmacy laws.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including medication profiles and medication therapy management.
- Stay updated on the latest pharmaceutical laws, guidelines, and best practices.
Inventory Management
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Oversee proper storage of medications, ensuring that temperature, humidity, and shelf-life guidelines are followed.
- Order medications and manage the inventory to avoid shortages and ensure efficient supply chain management.
Collaboration with Healthcare Team
- Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the effective management of patient health.
- Provide input and recommendations for medication therapies based on patient conditions and health data.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and treatment options.
Patient Education
- Educate patients on proper medication administration, including instructions for use, possible side effects, and lifestyle modifications.
- Advise patients on managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma through medication adherence and lifestyle changes.
