PGIMER Chandigarh has published a recruitment notification for 243 posts of Nursing Officer on regular, direct recruitment basis. As per the official notice, online registration will be open from 10 September to 3 October 2026.
If you’re planning to apply, don’t just go through the syllabus. Check your age, qualification, Nursing Council registration and, if required, hospital experience. Even if you do well in the exam, a little mistake in the form or missing document can cause problems during scrutiny.

PGIMER states that the cities to be examined can be allotted according to availability. Route 1: B.Sc. Qualification in Nursing
- B.Sc. Nursing (Hons.)
- Regular B.Sc. Nursing
- Basic B.Sc. in Nursing
You will also need to be registered as a Nurse or Nurse and Midwife – RN or RN & RM – with a State Nursing Council. The notice does not specify a separate hospital experience for candidates qualifying through this route.
Route 2: GNM Eligibility
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized board or council.
- Registration as Nurse or Nurse and Midwife with a State Nursing Council; and
- Minimum 1 year of hospital experience (having at least 50 beds) after obtaining the required GNM qualification.
If you are applying through GNM route then check properly your experience certificate. It should clearly state the period of employment, the nature of duties, the issuing authority, the reference number and the date of issue. PGIMER will take into consideration the experience gained after acquiring the essential qualification.
The normal age limit is 18 to 35 years.
Age and other eligibility conditions will be determined as of 3 October 2026, unless an official change is issued by PGIMER.
Upper age relaxation: Category: relaxation: SC/ST 5 year, OBC 3 Years, PwBD 10 years, PwBD with SC/ST 15 Year, PwBD with OBC 13 years. Different provisions for eligible government employees, permanent PGIMER employees and ex-servicemen. Candidates of reserved categories for unreserved vacancy should read thoroughly the rules of concession in notification.

Official pay scale of the post is Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 (Pay Level 7 of 7th Central Pay Commission). Actual take home pay may vary depending on applicable allowances, deductions and government rules and should not be presented as one guaranteed monthly amount.
No Interview for this Group B Nursing Officer Recruitment. The process includes:
- Computer Based Test (Online);
- Shortlisting by category;
- Review of uploaded documents and submitted application;
- Verification of original documents;
- Selection will be based on merit in CBT and eligibility.
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifying standard may be shortlisted at a ratio of about three to one (plus ties) for each advertised vacancy. Passing the CBT does not create a right to appointment. PGIMER should also accept the qualification, registration, experience and supporting documents.

These are qualifying standards, not assured cut-offs for selection. Depending on the performance and competition of the candidate, the final merit level may be higher.
What the Official Notice States: The CBT will be as per the prescribed educational qualification, course of profession and relevant experience,” it says. Questions may thus be on the subjects studied and practiced during B. Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing or GNM Training.
