Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. in Bengaluru, India, is seeking a motivated PCB Design Engineer to join a research and development team focusing on power electronics for AC drives, UPS, and chargers.

You will design complex multi-layer boards, generate documentation, and support manufacturing through ECO processes. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Altium Designer and PCAD, strong IPC knowledge, and 3+ years in electrical engineering.

Qualifications

• Expert in PCB design using Altium Designer & PCAD.
• Experienced in design of complex analog, digital, and power multi-layer printed circuit boards for high density and high parts count power supply applications (AC drive, UPS, Charger).
• Expert in the PCB design process: schematic capture, layout, generation of design files, BOMs, and release and revision control to ERP.
• Expert in generation of Gerber image files, and knowledgeable with the CAM350 suite of tools and PCB fabrication processes.
• Expert in the PCB layout process conforming to IPC standards and electrical and mechanical constraints of printed circuit board design, fabrication, and assembly.
• Knowledgeable in switched-mode power supply PCB design constraints: spacing for high voltages, EMI mitigation, and accurate track sizing; mounting of heavy components.

Responsibilities

• Design and document complex printed circuit boards conforming to IPC and industry standards from schematics, parts lists, and functional requirements supplied by electrical and mechanical design team.
• Interpret requirements for product electrical functionality, manufacturability, and regulatory agency compliance into PCB design implementations.
• Generate all documentation required for release and production of PCB designs and provide subsequent Manufacturing support and revision through ECO process.
• Provide expertise to optimize PCB designs and to resolve PCB design technical issues at PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers.
• Maintain CAD library, including symbol, footprint generation, and database administration.
• Establish PCB design standards, procedures, and guidelines, and assist with file maintenance and configuration control.
• Participate in structured product development programs in a collaborative team environment, working within constraints of program schedules and cost.

Job Description:

This position is for a highly motivated individual to work as part of a research and development team to design PCB hardware for Power converter ( AC drive / UPS / Charger ) , High Speed Digital board , Mixed signal board. The candidate should have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to work in a team effectively. This position requires support for new products as well as legacy products.

Required Skills and Education:

• Expert in PCB design using Altium Designer & PCAD software.
• Experienced in design of complex analog, digital, and power multi-layer printed circuit boards for high density and high parts count power supply applications ( Ac drive , UPS , Charger ) using through-hole, SMT, fine-pitch, and BGA components.
• Expert in the PCB design process: schematic capture, layout, generation of design files, BOMs, and release and revision control to ERP.
• Expert in generation of Gerber image files, and knowledgeable with the CAM350 suite of tools and PCB fabrication processes.
• Expert in the PCB layout process conforming to IPC standards and electrical and mechanical constraints of printed circuit board design, fabrication, and assembly.
• Knowledgeable in switched-mode power supply PCB design constraints: spacing requirements for high voltages and PCB track sizing for high current; layout practices to mitigate EMI issues; mounting of heavy components such as magnetics, heatsinks, and busbars.
• Knowledgeable in safety agency requirements for insulation and clearance/creepage spacings.
• Knowledgeable in electronics packaging and design for manufacturability to minimize cost and labour content.
• Knowledge desirable in CAD modelling and simulation of PCB electrical and thermal characteristics.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work on a team
