Job summary

Adtran, Inc. is hiring a Payroll Specialist to support global payroll operations across countries and legal entities. You will collaborate with employees, HR, Finance, and external providers to ensure accurate, timely payroll in compliance with local requirements.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, analytical thinking, and teamwork in an international environment. 2–5 years of payroll/finance experience is desirable in a hybrid setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience in payroll, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Experience with account reconciliations and financial or payroll reporting.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data.
• Strong attention to detail with a structured and solution-oriented approach.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support payroll processing across multiple countries and legal entities.
• Partner with external payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery.
• Review and validate payroll inputs, employee transactions, and payroll outputs.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
• Help continuously improve the accuracy and efficiency of payroll processes.
• Support payroll journal entries and accruals.
• Perform payroll-related account reconciliations.
• Review payroll liabilities and funding activities.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Partner with Finance to ensure payroll transactions are accurately reflected in financial records.
• Prepare recurring payroll reports and analysis.
• Investigate payroll variances, trends, and unusual transactions.
• Support payroll-related financial reporting and ad hoc requests.
• Help turn payroll data into clear and meaningful insights.
• Support compliance with applicable local tax, labor, social security, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain strong payroll controls in line with internal policies and SOX requirements.
• Support internal and external payroll audits.
• Assist with payroll tax reporting and year-end activities.
• Maintain accurate and well-organized payroll documentation.

What you'll do
