The Painting Inspector / Coordinator will be responsible for conducting inspections, ensuring painting processes meet quality standards, and coordinating with internal teams and Third-Party Inspection Agencies (TPIA). The role involves managing painting operations from material receipt to final inspection.
Key Responsibilities
1. Incoming Material (Painting) Inspection
- Inspect all incoming painting materials such as primers, coatings, and thinners.
- Verify material certificates, batch numbers, and compliance with required standards/specifications.
2. Preparation of Painting Process
- Assist in preparing and implementing the painting process plan.
- Ensure surface preparation, application method, and curing procedures are followed as per approved procedures.
3. Verification of Storage Conditions
- Ensure all paints and consumables are stored as per manufacturer recommendations.
- Monitor temperature, humidity, and shelf-life requirements for storage.
4. Preparation of Paint Indent
- Raise indents for required paints and consumables based on project needs.
- Ensure minimum stock levels and coordinate with procurement for timely availability.
5. Coordination with TPIA for Painting Jobs
- Liaise with Third-Party Inspection Agencies to schedule inspections.
- Ensure all documentation and job readiness prior to TPIA visits.
6. Inspection of Surface Preparation & Final Coating
- Conduct surface preparation inspections (blasting, cleaning, roughness checks).
- Inspect final coating thickness, finish, adhesion, and overall quality.
- Prepare inspection reports and ensure compliance with standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial Engineering.
- Knowledge of painting standards (SA, SSPC, ISO, NACE preferable).
- Experience in industrial painting inspection or QA/QC.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams and TPIA.
