Responsibilities

• Supervise execution of P-Way works including track laying, track renewal, track shifting, dismantling, and modification.
• Ensure proper execution of rails, sleepers, fastenings, ballast, points & crossings, and other track components.
• Review approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and work procedures before commencement of works.
• Carry out setting out and ensure correct track alignment, levels, gauge, gradients, and cross levels.
• Coordinate track works with station building, platforms, concourse, FOBs, utilities, drainage, signalling, and OHE works.
• Plan and execute works in operational railway areas while maintaining required safety and traffic blocks.
• Coordinate with Railway/IR officials for inspections, approvals, traffic blocks, line possessions, and commissioning activities.

Job Purpose

The P-Way Engineer will be responsible for planning, execution, supervision, inspection, and quality control of railway track and associated permanent-way works for the station redevelopment project. The role requires close coordination with railway authorities, civil, structural, MEP, signalling, OHE, and other project teams to ensure safe and timely completion of track-related works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and railway standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise execution of P-Way works including track laying, track renewal, track shifting, dismantling, and modification.
• Ensure proper execution of rails, sleepers, fastenings, ballast, points & crossings, and other track components.
• Review approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and work procedures before commencement of works.
• Carry out setting out and ensure correct track alignment, levels, gauge, gradients, and cross levels.
• Coordinate track works with station building, platforms, concourse, FOBs, utilities, drainage, signalling, and OHE works.
• Plan and execute works in operational railway areas while maintaining required safety and traffic blocks.
• Coordinate with Railway/IR officials for inspections, approvals, traffic blocks, line possessions, and commissioning activities.
• Monitor contractor/subcontractor activities and ensure compliance with approved methodology and project specifications.
• Inspect incoming P-Way materials and verify quality certificates and test reports.
• Ensure proper laying, tamping, ballast profiling, alignment correction, welding, and finishing of track.
• Supervise points & crossings installation, adjustment, testing, and commissioning.
• Coordinate rail welding activities, including flash-butt/aluminothermic welding as applicable.
• Monitor track geometry and arrange necessary corrective works based on inspection results.
• Maintain daily progress records, inspection reports, measurement records, and as-built documentation.
• Prepare work schedules, resource requirements, method statements, inspection & test plans, and progress reports.
• Ensure works are executed in accordance with applicable Indian Railways manuals, codes, specifications, and project requirements.
• Identify construction issues and coordinate with design and engineering teams for timely resolution.
• Support preparation of BOQs, quantity measurements, material reconciliation, and contractor bills related to P-Way works.
• Ensure strict compliance with railway safety procedures, PPE requirements, permit/possession systems, and site safety requirements.
• Assist in testing, inspection, trial runs, and final commissioning/handover of completed track works.
