Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Pune is seeking an experienced OT Network Engineer to operate and support OT network environments across factories and industrial sites. You will maintain secure, reliable connectivity for plant operations and collaborate with IT, security teams, and vendors.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate OT LAN and connectivity services across manufacturing sites.
  • Ensure OT network health, availability, and performance aligned with plant constraints and SLAs.
  • Support centralized remote operations for OT environments.
  • Manage industrial switching environments and plant connectivity.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize switches, VLANs, segmentation, and redundancy.
  • Support industrial protocols such as PROFINET, Modbus, and EtherNet/IP.
  • Support OT firewalls (e.g., mGuard or equivalent) and secure communication paths.
  • Align OT network changes with cybersecurity and plant security requirements.
  • Coordinate with security teams on hardening, patching, vulnerabilities, and secure remote access.
  • Monitor OT networks using approved tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, especially production-impacting issues.
  • Participate in major incidents and maintain accurate ITSM updates.
  • Execute planned OT network changes within approved processes and maintenance windows.
  • Support upgrades, new site rollouts, and design changes.
  • Maintain configurations, backups, baselines, and rollback plans.
  • Support secure OT remote access for internal teams and approved vendors.
  • Ensure access follows defined approvals, monitoring, and security controls.
  • Manage OT IP addressing, subnet planning, and documentation.
  • Support firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of OT devices.
  • Track EOL/EOS risks and coordinate upgrades during plant shutdown windows.
  • Coordinate with onsite teams, OEMs, and vendors for break-fix, RMA, and escalations.
  • Maintain OT network documentation, diagrams, inventories, and runbooks.
  • Contribute to RCA and continuous improvement of OT network operations.

Job Title: OT Network Engineer

Function: Network Services / Operational Technology

Location: Pune

Role Purpose

The OT Network Engineer is responsible for operating and supporting OT network environments across factories and industrial sites. The role ensures stable, secure, and resilient OT connectivity supporting plant operations, including industrial switching, OT firewalls, monitoring, incident response, remote access, lifecycle management, and network changes with minimal production impact.

The engineer works closely with plant OT teams, central IT, security teams, onsite support, and vendors to deliver OT network services safely and reliably.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and support OT LAN and connectivity services across manufacturing

sites.

  • Ensure network health, availability, and performance aligned with plant

constraints and SLAs.

  • Support centralized remote operations for OT environments.

Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
  • Strong experience in OT / industrial network operations
  • Hands-on experience with industrial Ethernet switching
  • Experience with OT firewalls (mGuard preferred)
  • Knowledge of network segmentation, IT/OT separation, and OT security zones
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, redundancy, NAT, ACLs, and firewalls
  • Experience with monitoring tools, incident/change management, and lifecycle activities
  • Knowledge of Purdue model and OT cybersecurity is desirable
Experience
  • 5+ years in network operations, with 23 years in OT / industrial environments
  • Experience supporting manufacturing plants or industrial sites
  • Experience in high-availability, safety-critical environments
Soft Skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Calm under production-impacting situations
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Strong documentation and change discipline
  • Willingness to work in 24x7 or on-call support models if required
Preferred
  • Experience in global manufacturing environments
