Job summary

Xoriant in Pune, India is seeking an experienced Oracle DBA to design and optimize database solutions in an Agile team environment. You will work on performance tuning, SQL optimization, and managing PL/SQL packages, triggers, sequences, synonyms, and constraints.

The role requires hands-on experience with Oracle 12c+, RMAN backups, Data Guard or RAC high availability, and file processing tools like UTL_FILE and SQL*Loader.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Oracle databases and SQL optimization.
• Strong knowledge of performance tuning and query optimization.
• Experience with PL/SQL packages, procedures, and functions.
• Experience with triggers, sequences, synonyms and constraints.
• Experience with Oracle 12c or later.
• Experience with external file processing using UTL_FILE, SQL*Loader, and Directory objects.
• Ability to lead in Agile projects and coordinate tasks across teams.
• Knowledge of DB cloning, environment provisioning for Dev/Test/Prod.
• DB administration duties including user management and schema control.
• Monitoring database health: tablespace, logs, and alert reviews.
• Plan and execute RMAN backups and recovery strategies.
• Monitor waits, tuning, and AWR/ADDm analysis.
• High availability: Data Guard, RAC or similar.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and develop solutions to client needs as a DB Developer within an Agile team.
• Write and optimize complex queries and perform performance tuning.
• Develop Packages, Functions and Procedures.
• Implement Triggers, Sequences, Synonyms and Constraints.
• Work with Oracle 12c+ databases and related tools.
• Handle UTL_FILE, SQL*Loader and Directory-based file processing.
• Represent the team on major upgrades and initiatives.
• Coordinate efforts within and outside Agile to meet deadlines.
• Coordinate DB cloning, refreshes and environment provisioning.
• Administer DB tasks including users, roles and schema management.
• Monitor health: tablespace, undo/redo, archive logs, and alerts.
• Plan backups and recovery using RMAN or equivalent.
• Monitor locks, wait events and perform ADDM/AWR analysis.
• Support high availability solutions such as Data Guard or RAC.

Core/Must Have Skills

• Analyze and develop solutions to client needs as a DB Developer within a team following the Agile development approach.
• Must have hands‑on experience writing and optimizing complex queries, Performance Tuning, and other performance enhancement strategies.
• Must have hands‑on experience developing Packages, Functions, Procedures etc.
• Must have hands‑on experience implementing Triggers, Sequences, Synonyms, and Constraints.
• Must have hands‑on production experience on Oracle 12c or later versions.
• Must have hands‑on experience with external file processing using UTL_FILE, SQL*Loader, Database Directories etc.
• Represent the team on all major technical upgrades and large technical efforts.
• Manage efforts within the Agile team and outside Agile to ensure tasks are completed successfully by deadlines.
• Knowledge of database cloning, refreshes, and environment provisioning for Dev/Test/Prod pipelines.
• Should have understanding of database administration tasks including user management, role/privilege assignments, and schema management.
• Monitor database health including tablespace utilization, undo/redo logs, archive logs, and alert log review.
• Plan and coordinate database backup and recovery strategies using RMAN or equivalent tools.
• Monitor locking, blocking, and deadlock issues; perform wait event analysis and AWR/ADDM report interpretation.
• Should have understanding of maintaining high availability solutions such as Oracle Data Guard, RAC, or equivalent failover mechanisms.

Good to Have Skills

• Good understanding of design patterns and architecture.
• Expertise with Unix and shell scripting.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to be open to discussion of potential options.
• Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or similar monitoring tools for proactive database health management.
• Exposure to cloud-based database services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) is a plus.
