Job summary

INFINX in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra is seeking an experienced medical coder to review patient records, assign CPT, ICD-9-CM and HCPCS codes, and support accurate reimbursement.

Qualifications

• 13 years' experience in coding.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in medical terminology and AMA guidelines.
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-9-CM & HCPCS coding.
• Ability to maintain high accuracy and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Determine provider and key information; apply coding requirements for payers, clients and states.
• Ensure batch chart counts match client submissions.
• Maintain daily and monthly MIS.
• Quality check coding performed by associates.
• Track errors and calculate accuracy of associates.
• Undertake denial follow-up and appeals work where required.
• Conduct specialty training for experienced coders.

Job Description

As a medical coding, you will review patient medical records and assign codes to diagnoses and procedures performed so the facility can bill insurance and other third-party payers (such as Medicare or Medicaid) as well as the patient.

Coding medical charts with through the understanding of medical terminology, AMA guidelines, anatomy, physiology and procedures and assigning the appropriate CPT, ICD- 9 CM & HCPCS and special access codes based on medical documentation. Associate the diagnosis codes to the appropriate procedure codes (CPT) and sequence the codes in such a way as to insure proper reimbursement.

Job Responsibilities

• Determining the provider and keying the information into the system and accurately apply, differences in coding requirements for various payers, clients and state programmers.
• Ensure number of charts in batch equals to total received from clients.
• Maintenance of daily and monthly M.I.S.
• Quality checking of the coding of the documents done by the associates.
• Keeping track of the errors and calculating accuracies of the associates.
• Undertakes denial follow-up and appeals work wherever required.
• Conducting Specialty training for experienced coders.
