Job Description
Position: Operator – PCBA Inspection
We areseeking a detail-oriented Operator – PCBA Inspection to perform visualand dimensional inspection of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs),including SMT and Through-Hole (THT) assemblies. The successfulcandidate will be responsible for identifying defects, verifying assemblyquality against applicable standards and manufacturing documentation, andsupporting production teams in maintaining high-quality products.
The rolerequires strong attention to detail, knowledge of IPC-A-610, goodunderstanding of electronics manufacturing processes, and the ability to workeffectively in a quality-focused environment. Experience in aerospace,defense, or other high-reliability electronics manufacturing is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspection ofPCBAs, including SMT and Through-Hole assemblies, using magnificationequipment, microscopes, and appropriate inspection tools.
- Inspect solder joints,component placement, polarity, orientation, markings, lead condition, andoverall workmanship in accordance with IPC-A-610 requirements.
- Identify and documentdefects including:
- Solderbridges
- Coldor disturbed solder joints
- Incorrectcomponent orientation or polarity
- Liftedor misaligned leads
- PCBand assembly workmanship defects
- Verify PCBA assembliesagainst BOMs, assembly drawings, Gerber prints, schematics, workinstructions, and other manufacturing documents.
- Perform incoming,in-process, and final inspections of PCB assemblies.
- Record inspection resultsaccurately in inspection reports or quality management systems.
- Segregate and identifynonconforming material in accordance with established procedures.
- Report quality issues andcommunicate defects to Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
- Support root-causeinvestigation and corrective actions for recurring defects.
- Verify reworked or repairedPCBAs to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
- Follow ESD handling,grounding, and workstation requirements while handling electronicassemblies.
- Maintain inspectionequipment and ensure tools are used correctly and within applicablecalibration requirements.
- Maintain accurate inspectionrecords and ensure product traceability.
- Follow company qualityprocedures, safety requirements, work instructions, and applicable AS9100 requirements.
- Support continuousimprovement activities related to PCBA quality and inspection processes.
Required Qualifications
- 4–5 years of experience in PCBA inspection within an electronicsmanufacturing environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of SMTand Through-Hole assembly processes.
- Working knowledge of IPC-A-610; Class 3 knowledge/experience is preferred.
- Understanding of AS9100Quality Management System requirements is preferred.
- Experience using inspectionequipment such as:
- Magnifiers
- Microscopes
- Measuringinstruments
- Otherelectronic assembly inspection tools
- Ability to read andinterpret BOMs, assembly drawings, Gerber prints, work instructions,and manufacturing documentation.
- Understanding of ESDhandling and protection requirements.
- Basic computer skills forentering and maintaining inspection results.
- Strong attention to detailand a quality-focused mindset.
- Good communication andinterpersonal skills.
- Ability to workindependently as well as effectively with Production, Engineering, andQuality teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace,defense, medical, automotive, or other high-reliability electronicsmanufacturing.
- IPC-A-610 certification orformal training.
- Experience with Class 3electronic assemblies.
- Familiarity withnonconformance reporting, corrective action, and quality documentation.
- Experience with automatedoptical inspection (AOI) or other PCBA inspection systems.
