Job summary

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. is seeking an experienced manufacturing leader for Grey Iron casting operations in Mohali. The role focuses on optimizing plant capacity, process controls, and cost management across melting, molding, pouring, and fettling stages.

You will drive TPM, preventive maintenance, safety training, and KPI-driven improvements to achieve high OEE, reduced downtime, and strong team leadership. A track record in operations management and talent development is essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduate in Metallurgy/Mechanical Engineering/Foundry Technology.
  • 15+ years of progressive Grey Iron casting manufacturing experience.
  • At least 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in plant operations management, including production planning, maintenance coordination, and manpower deployment.
  • Strong focus on safety, TPM and process optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Improve productivity by increasing plant capacity utilization to >90% and introduce skill-based training and work standardization.
  • Reduce casting rejection & rework by strengthening process controls at melting, molding, pouring and fettling stages.
  • Achieve first-time-right casting rate >95% by implementing process audits and root cause analysis for defect resolution.
  • Achieve manufacturing cost reduction by optimizing raw material mix, yield improvement and energy consumption.
  • Reduce consumables and energy cost per ton by introducing efficiency monitoring and material optimization programs.
  • Improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) by implementing TPM, preventive maintenance and breakdown analysis.
  • Reduce cycle time and lead time by streamlining workflow from Melting to dispatch.
  • Achieve zero accidents by strict enforcement of safety SOPs, training and hazard audits.
  • Ensure 100% statutory compliance by regular monitoring of environmental, safety and legal requirements.
  • Improve shop-floor discipline and safety culture by daily toolbox talks and monthly safety reviews.
  • Build high-performing manufacturing teams by continuous skill development and leadership coaching.
  • Reduce attrition and absenteeism by improving engagement, communication and motivation programs.
  • Develop future leaders by identifying high-potential employees and structured mentoring.
  • Introduce new process technologies by benchmarking global foundry practices and implementing best practices.
  • Improve plant competitiveness by driving innovation in casting manufacturing, materials and automation.
  • Achieve >98% equipment availability by strengthening preventive and predictive maintenance with Maintenance Team.
  • Reduce unplanned downtime by implementing failure analysis with Maintenance Team.
  • Improve asset life and performance by introducing condition-based monitoring and modernization initiatives with Maintenance Team.
