Job summary

Morgan Stanley Parametric in India seeks an Investment Operations Associate with 3–6 years of experience to support day-to-day operational activities related to equity portfolios, including reconciliations, oversight of transactions, account maintenance and portfolio implementation activities.

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience in Investment Operations or related financial services.
  • Understanding of equity markets, investment products, and portfolio management concepts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; familiarity with analysis and automation tools such as Alteryx, SQL, Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily activities such as client transactions, account maintenance, and portfolio data reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
  • Perform daily review of equity portfolios to ensure alignment with model weights and investment strategies.
  • Monitor and support model implementation activities to reflect approved decisions.
  • Research and resolve portfolio exceptions, reconciliation breaks, cash discrepancies, and variances.
  • Validate portfolio holdings, cash balances, security positions and transaction data across systems.
  • Support onboarding, transitions, strategy changes and special client requests.
  • Identify process improvements and support automation initiatives to enhance efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and control documentation.

This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The operations department consists of a team of professionals that focuses on the overall operations of Parametric. This group ensures the production process is complete from start to finish and lines up with the goals and functions of other departments within the firm. Examples include supervising, organizing and completing daily production, measuring and evaluating daily workload, and providing services to ensure the business runs as smoothly and effectively as possible.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Investment Operations Associate with 3-6 years of experience is responsible for supporting day-to-day operational activities related to equity portfolios, including portfolio reconciliations, transactions oversight, account maintenance and portfolio implementation activities. The role works closely with Portfolio Managers, Client Administration, and Technology teams to ensure portfolios are accurately maintained and aligned with investment models, client objectives, and operational requirements. We are looking for a self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of investment operations and portfolio management concepts, demonstrate ownership of assigned processes, and continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, controls, and service quality.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for ensuring daily activities, including client transactions, account maintenance, portfolio data reconciliations, and portfolio implementation activities, are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines.
  • Perform daily review of equity portfolios to ensure accuracy and alignment with model weights and investment strategies as per Portfolio managers.
  • Monitor and support model implementation activities, ensuring portfolio holdings reflect approved investment decisions and objectives.
  • Research and resolve portfolio exceptions, reconciliation breaks, cash discrepancies, and implementation variances.
  • Review and validate portfolio holdings, cash balances, security positions, and transaction data across multiple systems.
  • Monitor portfolio restrictions and investment guidelines to ensure compliance during implementation activities.
  • Produce, review, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports and control reviews.
  • Support account onboarding, portfolio transitions, strategy changes, and special client requests.
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues impacting portfolio management and operational processes.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, process documentation, and operational controls.
  • Support testing and validation of system enhancements, process improvements, and technology initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong risk and control mindset while ensuring delivery of high-quality operational support.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 3-6 years of experience in Investment Operations, Asset Management Operations, Fund Accounting reconciliation, or related financial services functions.
  • Understanding of equity markets, indices, investment products, portfolio management concepts, Bonds reconciliations and operational controls.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work with others implementing solutions
  • Strong attention to detail with positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data analysis and automation tools such as Alteryx, SQL, Power BI, or equivalent is preferred.
