## Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced **Automotive Lighting Products Homologation Engineer** to manage regulatory compliance, certification, testing coordination, and homologation approval activities for automotive lighting products. The role will focus on ensuring that lighting products such as headlamps, rear lamps, DRLs, fog lamps, turn indicators, reflectors, light guides, LED modules, and related components comply with applicable national and international regulations.
The candidate should have strong knowledge of **automotive lighting regulations**, including **AIS, CMVR, UNECE, ECE, FMVSS, SAE, and customer-specific requirements**. Automotive lighting regulations typically cover photometric performance, colour, durability, installation, and safety requirements for lighting and signalling devices. UNECE WP.29 provides the international framework for harmonized vehicle regulations, including lighting‑related approvals.

## Key Responsibilities
### Homologation & Regulatory Compliance
- Lead homologation and certification activities for automotive lighting products for domestic and export markets.
- Interpret and apply relevant standards such as **AIS, CMVR, UNECE/ECE, SAE, FMVSS 108, ISO, and customer-specific standards**.
- Ensure product compliance for lighting devices including:
- Headlamps
- Tail lamps
- Stop lamps
- Turn indicators
- DRLs
- Fog lamps
- Reverse lamps
- Side marker lamps
- Reflectors
- Number plate lamps
- Interior and ambient lighting, where applicable
- Support compliance with lighting and light-signalling devices installation requirements.
### Testing & Certification Coordination
- Coordinate with internal testing teams, external test labs, government agencies, and certification bodies.
- Prepare and submit samples, technical documentation, drawings, specifications, test plans, and compliance reports.
- Track product testing status, review test reports, and ensure timely closure of non-conformities.
- Coordinate photometry, colorimetry, environmental, vibration, thermal, EMC, mechanical, and durability testing as applicable.
### Documentation & Approvals
- Prepare homologation dossiers, technical files, declaration documents, conformity reports, and regulatory submissions.
- Maintain updated records of product approvals, certification validity, change history, and market-specific compliance data.
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs, part numbers, labeling, marking, E-mark requirements, approval numbers, and packaging compliance.
- Support audits from OEM customers, certification agencies, and regulatory authorities.
### Product Development Support
- Work closely with design, optical, electronics, quality, manufacturing, and project teams from concept to SOP.
- Provide regulatory inputs during RFQ, product design, prototype, validation, and production stages.
- Identify homologation risks early in product development and recommend design or process improvements.
- Support design reviews to ensure compliance with photometric, dimensional, marking, material, and installation requirements.
### Change Management
- Evaluate regulatory impact of engineering change requests, product modifications, tool changes, supplier changes, and market expansion.
- Ensure re-homologation or extension approvals are completed wherever required.
- Maintain compliance during product lifecycle changes.
### Regulatory Monitoring
- Monitor updates in automotive lighting regulations and communicate impact to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain a regulatory database for applicable standards across India, Europe, North America, and other export markets.
- Support benchmarking and gap analysis against evolving regulatory and customer requirements.

## Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in **Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics**, or related discipline.
- Diploma candidates with strong relevant experience in automotive lighting homologation may also be considered.

## Required Experience
- **5 to 10 years** of experience in automotive homologation, product compliance, testing, or regulatory affairs.
- Minimum **3 years of hands‑on experience in automotive lighting products** preferred.
- Experience working with OEMs, Tier‑1 suppliers, lighting manufacturers, or certification/test agencies will be an advantage.

## Technical Skills Required
- Strong understanding of automotive lighting product standards and homologation processes.
- Knowledge of regulations such as:
- **AIS standards**
- **CMVR requirements**
- **UNECE / ECE regulations**
- **UN R48, R112, R123, R6, R7, R23, R38, R87, R91, R148, R149, R150**
- **FMVSS 108**
- **SAE lighting standards**
- Understanding of photometric and colorimetric testing.
- Knowledge of automotive product validation and DV/PV testing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, optical layouts, wiring diagrams, product specifications, and test reports.
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, DVP\&R, control plans, and engineering change management.
- Basic understanding of LED technology, optical systems, thermal management, electronics, and plastic components used in automotive lamps.

## Preferred Skills
- Experience handling certification with agencies such as **ARAI, ICAT, CIRT, VCA, TV, UTAC, DEKRA, RDW, or equivalent bodies**.
- ARAI provides homologation and certification services for vehicles, systems, and components in India, including support for export homologation.
- Experience with global OEM customer requirements.
- Exposure to export homologation for Europe, USA, ASEAN, Gulf, or other international markets.
- Knowledge of quality management systems such as **IATF 16949** and ISO standards.
- Good understanding of automotive lighting manufacturing processes such as injection molding, coating, assembly, aiming, sealing, and end‑of‑line testing.
