Job summary

Rockstar Games Bangalore is seeking a System Administrator to provide 24x7 network operations and support for a high‑traffic, public‑facing environment. You will install, maintain, and administer Windows and Linux systems with emphasis on availability and reliability, including VMware clusters and SQL Server deployments.

The role requires hands‑on experience with IIS, AD, and monitoring tools while collaborating with data center teams to keep services running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Hands-on experience in Linux/Windows systems and high‑traffic environments.
• Proficiency with VMware, IIS, SQL Server, and common Linux distribution stacks.
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Perl for automation.
• Strong TCP/IP knowledge and problem‑solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and administer Windows/Linux systems in a highly available environment.
• Deploy and manage SQL Server in clustered/non‑clustered configurations, with patching.
• Develop SOPs for high availability and perform routine maintenance and RCA.
• Run IIS/.NET applications and VMware multi‑cluster environments.
• Ensure high availability during maintenance, patching, and upgrades.
• Admin L1/L2 MS Active Directory and monitor services (CheckMK, Splunk, Grafana).
• Provide timely, creative solutions to difficult problems.
• Coordinate with Data Center teams to plan hardware maintenance and issue resolution.

Rockstar is on the lookout for a System Administrator who is passionate about providing 24x7 Network Operations and Support.

This is a full-time, in‑office position based out of Rockstar’s large game development studio in Bangalore, India.

WHAT WE DO

• The Rockstar Games Online System Administrator team provides 24x7 Network Operations to our online games, features, and services.
• We provide hands‑on NOC services and support to the IT Operations encompassing enterprise, Online, and development environments.
• We build, maintain and plan monitoring systems and infrastructure for upcoming releases.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install, maintain, and administer Windows/Linux systems in a highly available, public‑facing environment.
• Deploy and administer SQL Server 2017/2019 in clustered/non‑clustered configurations, with patching and migrations.
• Develop standard operating procedures for high availability, perform routine maintenance, and support root cause analysis efforts.
• Run IIS/.Net C# applications and local VMware multi‑cluster environment.
• Ensure high availability during system maintenance, patching, and hardware upgrades.
• Perform L1/L2 MS Active Directory administration and monitor services (Check MK, Splunk, Grafana).
• Provide timely and creative solutions to difficult problems.
• Work with Data Center technicians to plan hardware maintenance and resolve hardware related issues.

REQUIREMENTS

• 2+ years of demonstrable ability in a Linux and/or Windows environment using related technologies and standards such as DHCP, DNS, DFS, LDAP, IPSEC, CIFS, SMB, etc.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with IT certifications, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrable experience administering systems in high‑traffic, public‑facing environments, with hands‑on experience in VMWare, IIS, SQL Server, RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Apache, Mongo, and MySQL.Good understanding of TCP/IP networks, with good communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to remain composed in fast paced situations, balancing multiple projects, and communicating efficiently.
• Proficient in scripting languages: PowerShell/DSC, Bash, Shell, Python, PHP, and/or Perl.
• Strong analytical thinking, with knowledge of complex IT systems, network topology, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with REST API automation, and ability to work with distributed teams to develop automated workflows using PowerShell/DSC and Chef.

PLUSES

• MCSE/MCITP certification, or equivalent experience.
• RHEL certifications or equivalent experience.
• Experience with supporting online gaming development and production environments.
• General Cisco IOS administration experience for adding removing VLANS, setting up ACLs.
• Experience with L1/L2 MS Active Directory administration.
• Knowledge of C#.
