Job summary

Bharat Wire Ropes Ltd. (BWR) is seeking a Chemist to join the Quality / Laboratory team at the manufacturing location.

You will conduct chemical analysis, perform spectro and wet chemistry tests, and ensure product quality from raw materials through finished goods. The role requires handling laboratory equipment, maintaining records, and coordinating with Production and Quality teams to drive corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Experience in chemical testing and laboratory operations.
• Knowledge of IS/ASTM standards and quality control processes.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out chemical analysis, testing and inspection of materials and finished products.
• Perform spectro/wet chemical analysis as applicable for steel and other materials.
• Test and monitor chemical composition of steel per specifications.
• Maintain laboratory records, test and inspection reports.
• Ensure calibration, maintenance and safe handling of laboratory equipment.
• Prepare daily/periodic laboratory reports and share results with departments.
• Support quality audits, customer inspections and related documentation.
• Follow EHS and laboratory safety procedures.

What youll do

• Job Purpose
• Responsible for carrying out chemical analysis, testing, inspection and maintaining quality standards of raw materials, process materials and finished products in accordance with company specifications and applicable standards.
• Key Responsibilities
• Conduct chemical analysis and testing of raw materials, process materials and finished products.
• Perform spectro / wet chemical analysis as applicable for steel and other materials.
• Test and monitor chemical composition of steel, including relevant elements as per specifications.
• Conduct routine laboratory tests and ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Maintain laboratory records, test reports, inspection reports and other quality documentation.
• Ensure proper calibration, maintenance and handling of laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Monitor and maintain chemical solutions, reagents and laboratory consumables.
• Support the Quality team in incoming material, in-process and final product inspection.
• Ensure testing is carried out as per IS / ASTM / customer specifications and internal quality standards.
• Investigate abnormal test results and coordinate with Production and Quality teams for corrective action.
• Maintain proper housekeeping, safety practices and chemical handling procedures in the laboratory.
• Assist in quality audits, customer inspections and documentation related to laboratory activities.
• Prepare daily/periodic laboratory reports and share test results with relevant departments.
• Follow all EHS and laboratory safety procedures while handling chemicals and equipment.
