Job summary

Path Infotech Ltd. is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Performance Engineer for banking environments in Mumbai. You will lead advanced performance tuning, implement robust HA/DR solutions, and ensure RBI-compliant data security with a focus on high-throughput OLTP workloads.

You will design and validate backup strategies using RMAN, Data Guard configurations, and OEM-driven monitoring, while collaborating with IT, audit, and business teams to deliver executive-ready RCA reports.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech and/or MS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
• 10+ years of enterprise Oracle database experience with 3+ years of preferred hands-on banking/financial services.

Responsibilities

• Performance Engineering & Optimization: lead advanced performance tuning using AWR/ASH, SQL Monitor, Real-Time ADDM; diagnose I/O bottlenecks, latch contention, memory pressure, CPU saturation; optimize indexing and queries; establish baselines for OLTP-heavy workloads.
• High Availability & Disaster Recovery: architect and manage Data Guard / Active Data Guard, DR drills, failover simulations; align RPO/RTO with RBI guidelines; design backup/recovery frameworks (RMAN) and ensure DR readiness.
• Banking Domain Alignment: lead crisis resolution for Sev1/Sev2 incidents; communicate with C-suite and auditors; ensure compliance with RBI and regulatory reporting; support high transaction throughput CBS, payments, treasury, and risk platforms.
• Security & Compliance: implement RBAC, TDE, data masking for non-prod; support audits and regulatory inspections.
• Automation & Operational Excellence: Shell/Python, Ansible; standardize patching/upgrades; improve observability and MTTR via RCA processes.
• OEM Job Responsibility: design enterprise OEM architecture; monitoring strategy for RAC/Data Guard/middleware; alerting, upgrades, and integration with ITSM.
• Skills Required: OEM 13c/24 AI architecture; Oracle DB/RAC/Data Guard; monitoring strategy and automation; scripting; banking compliance.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Performance Engineering & Optimization (Core Focus)

Lead advanced performance tuning using:

• AWR/ASH analysis
• SQL Monitor & Real‑Time ADDM

Diagnose systemic issues (I/O bottlenecks, latch contention, memory pressure, CPU saturation).
Optimize:

• Indexing strategies
• Query rewrites
• PL/SQL optimization
• Connection pooling patterns

Establish performance baselines for OLTP‑heavy core banking workloads.

2. High Availability & Disaster Recovery

Architect and manage:

• Data Guard / Active Data Guard
• DR drills & failover simulations

Own RPO/RTO alignment with banking regulatory requirements.
Design backup & recovery frameworks (RMAN, incremental merge, backup validation).
Ensure DR readiness with periodic validation and audit documentation.

3. Banking Domain Alignment

• Leads client situations in crisis management, good executive communication and cross‑functional leadership to Leadership Competencies, e.g. Lead crisis resolution for Sev1/Sev2 database incidents and delivers executive‑ready RCA reports.
• Aligns with cross‑functional stakeholders (IT, business, audit) in large banking teams
• Communicate complex database risk and strategy to C‑suite executives and regulatory auditors.
• Ensure compliance with RBI/central bank guidelines and audit standards.
• Support high transaction throughput environments (large OLTP systems).

Support mission‑critical systems such as:

• Core Banking (CBS)
• UPI / Payments / Switch systems
• Treasury systems
• Risk & Compliance platforms
• Data Warehouse & Regulatory reporting

4. Security & Compliance

Implement database hardening and security best practices:

• Role‑based access control
• Database Vault (if applicable)
• Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
• Data masking for non‑prod environments

Support audit requirements and regulatory inspections.
Ensure encryption at rest and in transit (SSL/TLS, wallet management).

5. Automation & Operational Excellence

• Shell / Python
• Ansible

Standardize patching, upgrade, and rollback frameworks.
Enhance observability via OEM / custom monitoring.
Improve MTTD/MTTR via structured incident response and RCA processes.

6. OEM Job Responsibility

• Design and manage enterprise‑wide OEM architecture for large banking environments
• Define monitoring strategy for databases, RAC, Data Guard, middleware, and applications
• Implement advanced alerting, event correlation, and noise reduction
• Lead OEM upgrades, patching, and high availability setup
• Drive automation using OEM jobs, corrective actions, and scripts
• Ensure OEM supports audit, compliance, and regulatory reporting needs
• Perform capacity planning and performance trend analysis
• Integrate OEM with ticketing/ITSM tools for incident management
• Handle critical escalations and work with Oracle Support for platform issues

7. Skills Required:

• Deep expertise in OEM 13c/24 AI architecture (OMS, OMR, Agents)
• Strong knowledge of Oracle DB, RAC, Data Guard, Exadata (if applicable)
• Experience in monitoring strategy, alert tuning, and automation
• Knowledge of repository database performance and OEM scalability
• Scripting (Shell/Python) for automation
• Understanding of banking compliance and audit requirements
