Job summary

Sterlite Technologies in India is seeking a testing/quality professional to perform reliability, environmental, and qualification testing of optical interconnect products and passive optical components per GR-326/IEC standards. The role involves preparing test setups, executing tests, and generating traceable reports across cross-functional teams.

You will measure IL/RL, operate climate chambers and test equipment, and support failure analysis and CAPA for continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical or Electronics and Telecommunications.
• 25 years of relevant testing/quality experience (optical/telecom preferred).
• Good understanding of optical components and testing instruments.
• Hands-on experience with SAP, MS Excel and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Perform reliability, environmental, and qualification testing per GR/IEC specs.
• Conduct environmental/mechanical tests: Thermal Cycling, Damp Heat, Vibration, etc.
• Prepare samples, fixtures, execute tests, record observations, generate reports.
• Measure optical performance (IL, RL) using Santac instruments.
• Operate and troubleshoot climatic chambers and lab equipment.
• Perform fiber splicing and support testing/qualification.
• Ensure timely lot testing, qualification, and project closure.
• Support failure analysis and CAPA for quality systems.
• Prepare ITPs, SOPs, WI, MIS, lab records.
• Maintain NABL compliance and calibration management.
• Perform First Article Inspection per drawings.
• Coordinate with Quality, Production, Engineering, R&D cross-functions.

Role & responsibilities

• Perform reliability, environmental, and qualification testing of optical interconnect products and passive optical components as per GR-326, GR-1209, GR-1221, GR-3125, IEC, and customer-specific requirements.
• Conduct environmental and mechanical tests including Thermal Cycling, Damp Heat, Mechanical Shock, Vibration, Flex, Twist, Tensile, Compression, Fungus Resistance, Water Head, IPX, Seal Under Load, and other qualification tests.
• Prepare test samples, fixtures, and test setups; execute testing, monitor progress, record observations, and generate test reports with complete traceability.
• Measure, analyze, and evaluate optical performance parameters such as Insertion Loss (IL) and Return Loss (RL) using Santac instruments and related software.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot climatic chambers, laboratory equipment, optical measurement instruments, and test systems.
• Perform fiber splicing and support optical product testing and qualification activities.
• Ensure timely execution of lot testing, qualification activities, and project closure through effective test planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination.
• Support failure analysis, root cause investigation, CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives related to testing and quality systems.
• Prepare and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), SOPs, Work Instructions (WI), MIS reports, laboratory records, and technical documentation.
• Maintain laboratory compliance through calibration management, NABL documentation, equipment status monitoring, and adherence to quality and safety requirements.
• Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) as per drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with Quality, Production, Engineering, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to support testing, qualification, and quality objectives.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma in Mechanical or Electronics and telecommunications
• 25 years of relevant experience in testing/quality (preferably in optical/telecom domain)
• Good understanding of optical components and testing instrument
