Job description

The Night Duty Medical Officer will be responsible for providing medical care, patient monitoring, emergency response, and clinical documentation during night shifts in the hospital. This requires MBBS or BAMS qualification, sound clinical knowledge, quick decision-making, and coordination with consultants, nurses, diagnostics, and support teams. The candidate will ensure timely patient care, safety, and smooth clinical operations during night duty.

• Attend OPD, IPD, emergency, and ward patients during night duty hours.
• Assess patient condition, take medical history, and perform clinical examination.
• Provide initial treatment and medical support as per hospital protocols.
• Monitor admitted patients, vitals, treatment response, and clinical progress.
• Respond promptly to emergency calls, critical changes, and urgent patient needs.
• Coordinate with consultants for patient updates, treatment advice, and critical decisions.
• Review lab reports, radiology reports, and diagnostic findings during night shifts.
• Write treatment orders, progress notes, prescriptions, and handover documentation.
• Coordinate with nursing staff for medication, investigations, procedures, and patient care.
• Support admissions, transfers, referrals, and discharge-related coordination when required.
• Counsel patients and relatives under consultant guidance with clear communication.
• Follow infection control, patient safety, consent, and hospital clinical protocols.
• Maintain accurate case sheets, night duty reports, and medical records.
• Support emergency stabilization until consultant or specialist review is available.
• Ensure smooth handover of patient status and pending tasks to the morning team.
