Job summary

SkillYT in Mumbai is seeking a hands-on New Product Development (NPD) Manager to lead the full product lifecycle from consumer insights to formulation, testing, packaging and production. You will collaborate with founders, R&D teams, manufacturers and testing partners to launch innovative skincare products.

The role requires 2-4 years of skincare or personal-care product development experience, with a strong understanding of skin biology and INCI nomenclature.

About The Role

About The Role

The role involves managing the complete product development lifecycle, from identifying consumer needs and conceptualising products to formulation, testing, packaging, and commercial production.

You will work closely with founders, R&D teams, manufacturers, and testing partners to bring innovative, high‑quality products to market.

Key Responsibilities

• Research consumer needs, market trends, ingredients, product technologies, and competitor offerings.
• Develop product briefs and translate consumer insights into product concepts.
• Drive formulation development from initial samples to final approval.
• Evaluate product texture, finish, sensory experience, and overall performance.
• Coordinate stability, compatibility, dermatological, claims‑related, and other required testing.
• Ensure products meet quality standards and intended performance requirements.
• Manage formula and packaging compatibility, product costing, and development timelines.
• Coordinate scale‑up, commercial production, and product launch readiness.
• Identify opportunities for product improvement based on testing and post‑launch feedback.
• Coordinate with manufacturers, formulation experts, R&D teams, and packaging vendors.
• Manage sampling, product approvals, production schedules, and development milestones.
• Ensure smooth execution from concept to commercialisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2-4 years of hands‑on experience in skincare or personal‑care product development.
• Experience working with a D2C brand, beauty company, or cosmetic manufacturer.
• Strong understanding of skin biology, cosmetic ingredients, active ingredients, INCI nomenclature, pH, and formulation fundamentals.
• Familiarity with cosmetic product technologies, testing protocols, and packaging compatibility.
• Strong product evaluation skills, including consumer and sensory judgement.
• Good commercial understanding, project management, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with R&D and manufacturing partners.
