Job summary

Google Bengaluru is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer to lead deployment, maintenance and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will collaborate with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers, and telecom vendors to position the team for success.

Responsibilities include acting as a first responder to faults, performing root cause analysis, and developing automation to improve repair times.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in telecommunications and IP networking.
• Experience in network operations and troubleshooting.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours including nights, weekends, holidays and shifts.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in telecommunications working with network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers and data services.
• 2 years of experience in IP networking, and key networking protocols like TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, SDN etc.
• Experience in network operations, systematic troubleshooting in IP and optical environment.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including working nights, weekends, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Preferred qualifications:

• Certifications in Network (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE/CCDE/JNCIE/JNCIP) or equivalent practice experience.
• Experience in a network operations center or technical assistance center environment managing IP and optical networks.
• Understanding of generic protocols and their applications, device repair, network topologies and global internet technologies.
• Ability to use, understand and navigate Element Management System (EMS) and Network Management System (NMS) systems to manage optical networks.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including working nights, weekends, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required in a network operations center environment.

The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. Were involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a first responder for faults and outages on Googles production network. Monitor network health and identify potential risks or performance degradation. Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 network support.
• Perform root cause analysis on network incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  
• Identify opportunities for and contribute to the development of automation and tooling to improve repair times and reduce manual effort.
  
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to manage and resolve network issues.
