Qualifications

The Team:

Hitachi, Ltd. is seeking a talented Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure and reliable network infrastructure. This role is crucial for ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance across our global operations.

The Role

• Design, configure, and deploy network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement proactive solutions to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex network problems, including connectivity, performance, and security-related incidents.
• Implement and maintain network security policies and procedures, including access control lists, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Perform regular network audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with other IT teams and business units to understand requirements and provide network solutions.
• Participate in on‑call rotation for network support and incident response.
• Evaluate and recommend new network technologies and solutions to improve efficiency and security.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Network Engineer in an enterprise environment.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, etc.) and network services (DNS, DHCP).
• Proficiency with Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) is essential.
• Experience with network security best practices and technologies (e.g., VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS).
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP) are highly desirable.
• Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
