Job summary

InOpTra Digital is seeking an Automation Engineer - Configuration Management who will deliver a network automation platform in client environments, under the guidance of an Automation Consultant. You will own build and validation of the config automation pipeline from lab to client deployment.

The role covers discovery sessions, template creation, CI/CD integration, and post-deployment validation using PyATS/Robot Framework, with drift detection and autoremediation features.

Qualifications

• Network automation engineering (design and delivery).
• Experience with Ansible/AAP/AWX.
• Python for network automation (Netmiko, NAPALM, Nornir, or equivalent).
• Jinja2 templating for network configuration rendering.
• Git / GitOps workflow.
• CI/CD pipeline development (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent).
• Cisco IOS / IOS-XE / NX-OS.
• Arista EOS.
• Core network protocols - BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, ACLs.
• Pre/post validation frameworks - PyATS, Robot Framework, or Arista ANTA.
• Network Source of Truth tooling - NetBox, Nautobot, or equivalent.
• YAML / JSON data modelling.
• Linux / Bash.

Responsibilities

• Participate in configuration management discovery sessions alongside senior engineers and client SMEs.
• Build golden config templates for defined device types against a defined data model schema and compliance baseline.
• Develop and integrate an automated config deployment pipeline into existing CI/CD tooling with Ansible Automation Platform as the execution engine.
• Implement pre/post deployment validation using an agreed testing framework (PyATS, Robot Framework, or Arista ANTA).
• Build automated drift detection against the golden config baseline with configurable autoremediation and manual‑gate remediation workflows.
• Migrate and validate automation from lab environments to client target infrastructure.
• Contribute to operational runbooks and knowledge transfer sessions.
• Participate in agile ceremonies - stand‑ups, sprint demos, and retrospectives.

Works under the technical direction of the Automation Consultant, participating in discovery sessions and owning the build and validation of the config automation pipeline from lab through client environment delivery.
