Job summary

Barclays Global Services Centre in Pune seeks a senior Negotiator for Global Contract Services to draft, negotiate and execute master and collateral agreements for our global Markets client‑facing franchise. You will conduct diligence, negotiate with clients directly and engage internal stakeholders such as credit risk and sales.

The role requires a Law degree and deep knowledge of ISDA master agreements, GMRA and related templates, with strong leadership and risk management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate and execute master and collateral agreements and ancillary documents (ISDA, GMRA, GMSLA, MSFTA) for global markets clients.
  • Conduct due diligence and provide meaningful legal advice to stakeholders; coordinate with credit risk, sales, trading and treasury.
  • Manage a negotiations portfolio, oversee team dynamics, and ensure timely, compliant deliverables.

Purpose of the role

To oversee and manage transactional processes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation for financial transactions.


Accountabilities

To ensure that the Transaction Services and Documentation activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal and reputational risks associated with these activities. Coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel, credit risk management, and other departments, to ensure that transactions are executed in a timely and efficient manner. Creation, review, negotiation and management of legal documents such as loan agreements, security documents, and other transactional documents, to ensure execution in a timely and efficient manner. Transaction support, including preparation of transaction summaries, conducting due diligence, and support to other departments as needed. Development and implementation of transaction processes and procedures to ensure that transactions are executed consistently.Pro‑active identification, communication, and provision of legal advice on applicable laws, rules and regulations (LRRs). Keeping up to date with regards to changes to LRRs in the relevant coverage area. Ensuring that LRRs are effectively allocated to, and adequately reflected within, the relevant policies, standards and controls.

Step into the role of a Negotiator, Global Contract Services, where you will be a part of the largest team within Barclays Legal, drafting, negotiating and executing master and collateral agreements and ancillary documentation (e.g., ISDAs, GMRAs, GMSLAs, Futures Agreements) for our global Markets client‑facing franchise. You will conduct diligence, negotiate with clients directly and engage extensively with internal stakeholders such as credit risk, sales and trading, collateral management, treasury, tax and client onboarding.



  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Law.

  • Expertise in negotiation of financial markets contracts such as the ISDA Master Agreements (including IM and VM credit support annexes), GMRA, MRA, GMSLA, MSFTA, FXPB, Equities Prime Brokerage suite.

  • Strong grasp of industry netting & collateral opinions, regulatory requirements and jurisdictional nuances, e.g. IM /VM requirements under various regulatory regimes.

  • Ability to expertly manage a negotiations portfolio, support team members in managing client negotiations, perform supervisory checks for the team highlight gaps in approvals obtained, drafting, processes or interaction between systems used in the process.

  • Ability to assess documentation templates, current processes, systems or approvals and provide workable solutions/alternatives, whether to stakeholders or within the team.

  • Experience in managing projects within a clearly defined framework with an emphasis on strong commercial management alongside quality and timely legal deliverables.

  • Strong leadership, communication, time management and organizational skills with risk & controls mindset.

  • Openness to flexible work hours.
