Job summary

KBR in Chennai seeks an experienced Senior Naval Architect to lead naval architecture and marine engineering studies for offshore and marine facilities, including hull form, weight estimation, stability calculations, and vessel interfaces.

You will guide FEED and Detailed Engineering activities, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, ensure compliance with classification society rules, and support proposals and project delivery with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering or related field.
• Master's degree in Naval Architecture or Offshore Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 15+ years of experience in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering.
• Extensive experience in Offshore Oil & Gas, FPSO, FSO, Offshore Platforms, Floating Structures, and Marine Infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead naval architecture and marine engineering studies for offshore and marine facilities.
• Design and analysis of ships, boats, floating offshore facilities and marine transport systems.
• Perform hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, stability, seakeeping, transportation, loadout, lifting and installation analyses.
• Develop and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, procedures, and design deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and classification society rules.
• Provide technical assurance and governance for naval architecture activities across all project phases.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Interface with clients, shipyards, vendors, classification societies, and regulatory authorities.
• Support proposal development, project estimation, and business growth activities.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting technical excellence.

The role will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise for Structural design of ships, Hull form development and design, weight estimation, stability calculations, supporting the execution of FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield projects involving vessels, FPSOs, FSOs, offshore platforms, floating structures, transportation, loadout, installation, and marine operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform naval architecture and marine engineering studies for offshore and marine facilities.


• Design and analysis of Ships, boats, floating offshore facilities and marine transport systems.


• Carry out and review hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, stability, seakeeping, transportation, loadout, lifting, towing, installation, and marine operation analyses.


• Develop and review technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, procedures, and design deliverables.


• Ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and classification society rules.


• Provide technical assurance and governance for naval architecture activities across all project phases.


• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Qualifications including Required Education, Experience & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.


• Master's Degree in Naval Architecture or Offshore Engineering preferred.


• Minimum 15+ years of experience in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering.


• Extensive experience in Offshore Oil & Gas, FPSO, FSO, Offshore Platforms, Floating Structures, and Marine Infrastructure projects.


• Strong experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield projects.
