Role:
- Teachers create a warm fostering environment in the classroom thatfacilitates learning.
- Teachers help impart knowledge to their students as per the definedcurriculum.
- Teachers mentor and nurture students and role model desirableprogressive social attitudes and behaviour.
- Teachers work closely with other teachers in their Curriculum Area,their Curriculum Leaders, Key Stage Leaders and other the school leadershipto ensure optimal student learning and teaching.
Key Accountabilities :
Planning and preparing for students’learning:
- Planappropriately using knowledge and understanding of The British SchoolContext.
- Keepabreast of contemporary pedagogical approaches and work to implement bestpractice.
- Possessappropriate content knowledge.
- Have anunderstanding of students’ needs and abilities and design appropriatelearning experiences.
- Identifyappropriate learning outcomes for students.
- Planandimplement effective assessment for/of learning which enhances outcomes forstudents.
Creating an effective learning environment:
- Createrespectful classroom environment.
- Establishan effective rapport with students and colleagues.
- Establishand maintain effective classroom management.
- Managephysical space.
- Supportstudents socially, emotionally and academically.
- Reinforceand reward positive behaviours.
- Be responsible for the proper storage and maintenance of musicalinstruments, classroom equipment and the upkeep of the specialist musicrooms.
- Understand and implement the Health and Safety policies of theschool and the department to ensure a safe working environment for studentsand teachers.
- Maintain stock register and do annual stock check ensuring arecord of any breakage/resources.
- Liaise with the CL to order equipment and consumables.
- Take cover lesson and break/dispersal/bus duties according to theschool policy.
Teaching and learning:
- Useeffective questioning and discussion techniques.
- Engageand motivate students in their learning.
- Providefeedback to students in a timely and developmental fashion.
- Meetindividual needs through effective differentiation.
- Usetechnology effectively to support teaching and learning.
- Useresources effectively to support student learning.
- Incorporatethe TBS Learner Profile attributes in their teaching.
- Take specialist instrument afternoon activities classes asrequired.
- Assist selected IGCSE and IB music classes (by providingindividialised specialist instructions and accompaniment).
- Attend all department meetings and workshops.
- Contribute towards the development of Curriculum Area.
- Be responsible with a positive attitude for the facilitation ofteacher/student requirements for music.
- Take pastoral care responsibilities (become class tutor/co-tutor).
- Participate and contribute to the school events.
- Support audio-video recordings for music exams, festivals andassemblies

Qualification

Experience
- Preferably 3 + years teaching experience in an internationalschool.
