Job summary

Merkle in Pune is seeking a senior data architecture leader to design multi-cloud data solutions, models, and governance frameworks. You will work hands-on to implement architectures and mentor a growing team of architects, while engaging with clients to shape data strategies.

The role requires strong cloud experience, Python data engineering skills, and proven ability to deliver end-to-end architectures with SAAS tools. Office-based in Pune, IST shift, permanent role.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of cloud architecture experience.
• Hands-on with AWS/Azure/GCP data services; two clouds recommended.
• Strong data modelling, ETL/ELT, data warehousing and analytics.
• Expertise in governance, security and compliance.
• Ability to design proposals, diagrams and cost models.
• Excellent communication, presentation and client engagement.
• Hands-on development and implementation of solutions.
• Python experience for data engineering and prototyping.
• Mentor junior architects and grow the practice.
• SAAS tools experience (Databricks).

Job description

Must have skills:

• 10+ years of experience in cloud architecture.

• Hands‑on experience with AWS and/or Azure and/or GCP data services (BigQuery, Synapse, Redshift, Databricks, etc.). Any two cloud experience

• Strong knowledge of data modelling, ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and analytics platforms.

• Expertise in data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.

• Ability to prepare solution proposals, architecture diagrams, and cost models.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and client engagement skills.

• Should be hands‑on in development, with the ability to design and implement solutions directly.

• Experience in Python for data engineering, automation, and solution prototyping.

• Mentor junior architects to develop technical capabilities and strengthen the overall architecture practice.

• SAAS based tools experience (Databricks etc)

• MDM experience ( Informatica, Reltio, Profisee etc)

• Agentic AI skills

Good to have skills

• Proven track record in pre‑sales solutioning and responding to RFPs/RFIs.

• ’Familiarity with AI/ML integration into data architectures.

• Prior experience in consulting.

• Onsite experience in Europe / UK / US

Education Qualification-

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.

Certification

If Any 2 of the below

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect

• Azure Data Engineer / Azure Solutions Architect

• GCP Professional Data Engineer

• Other relevant cloud or data architecture certifications are a plus.
