Panasonic Avionics Corporation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Technical Leader) to drive architecture and development of Android applications powering the IFE platform. Qualifications

• Strong Android app development experience with Kotlin.
• MVVM, Clean Architecture, modular design, and scalable feature architecture.
• Solid understanding of SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Expertise with Android Jetpack libraries (Navigation, WorkManager, ViewModel, LiveData, Room, DI).
• Proficiency in Jetpack Compose and traditional View-based UI development.
• Kotlin Coroutines/Flow/StateFlow/SharedFlow and asynchronous programming.
• Experience designing medium to large-scale systems, APIs, offline-first architectures.
• Knowledge of performance optimization, startup, rendering, memory, battery.
• Experience diagnosing production issues (ANRs, crashes, threading).
• Hands-on with profiling tools (Android Profiler, Perfetto, Heap/Thread Dumps).
• Experience driving engineering best practices, CI/CD, code quality, testing.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer (Technical Leader) to drive the architecture, design, and development of next-generation Android applications powering Panasonic Avionics' In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) platform. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across multiple teams, own critical software modules, and build scalable, high-performance solutions that deliver exceptional experiences to millions of airline passengers worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Extensive experience in Android application development using Kotlin.
• Expert knowledge of MVVM, Clean Architecture, modular application design, and scalable feature architecture.
• Strong understanding and practical application of SOLID principles and advanced design patterns.
• Deep expertise in Android Jetpack libraries including Navigation, WorkManager, ViewModel, LiveData, Room, and Dependency Injection frameworks.
• Strong experience with both Jetpack Compose and traditional Android View-based UI development, including custom UI components.
• Expert-level proficiency with Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, StateFlow, SharedFlow, structured concurrency, and asynchronous programming.
• Experience designing medium to large-scale systems, API contracts, offline-first architectures, telemetry, and feature flag integrations.
• Strong knowledge of Android performance optimization including application startup, rendering, memory management, battery optimization, and long-running application sessions.
• Proven expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex production issues including ANRs, crashes, threading, and concurrency problems.
• Hands-on experience with performance profiling tools such as Android Profiler, CPU/Memory profiling, Heap Dumps, Thread Dumps, Systrace, and Perfetto.
• Experience driving engineering best practices including architecture reviews, code quality, automated testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and static code analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to independently own and deliver complex features from design through production.
• Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring engineers, leading technical design reviews, RFC discussions, and influencing engineering direction across multiple teams.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across globally distributed engineering teams.
