Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS/JEEViKA) is implementing the Bihar Rural Transformation Project (BRTP) with a strong focus on improving community resilience for health and nutrition, especially for 1,000-day households (pregnant women, lactating mothers and children 0-23 months). JEEViKA's Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Village Organisations (VOs) and Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) are the primary community platforms for mobilisation, peer support and convergence with government health nutrition services. Community Nutrition Resource Persons (CNRPs) and Master Resource Persons (MRPs - Nutrition) are critical cadres for behaviour change communication, household practices, convergence support and last-mile service linkage. JEEViKA also seeks to ensure that every 1,000-day household has simple, trusted, low-literacy-friendly sources of stage-specific information on maternal diet, IFA/calcium use, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, danger signs and WASH accessible at home and through community platforms. In BRTP, the focus shifts from a purely system-driven convergence of services to a Community Resilient Convergence approach, placing households and communities at the centre of change. Households play a critical role in adopting and sustaining desired health, nutrition practices. The approach is built on four pillars: Household Practices, Government Service Delivery, Community-Based Organisations, and Food Enterprises. Line departments will continue providing quality services to households and communities in accessing services and making better health, nutrition, choices. Community Resilient Convergence will, therefore, aim to:
In this approach, JEEViKA's community organisations and AI enabled digital tools, IEC and IPC will act as enablers. This household-centred framing of convergence is expected to create stronger, more sustainable improvements in children's dietary diversity, service uptake and overall nutrition outcomes in the 1,000-day window.
