This is an onsite role based at Nextiva’s Bengaluru office (Wilshire III by MFAR, 492, Hobli, RHB Colony, Mahadevapura, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560048). In-Office Expectation:

This role is expected to work onsite four days per week, with the potential to increase to five days per week, as required by the business. Specific scheduling and flexibility will be guided by your leader to support both team collaboration and individual productivity.

Software Engineer III – Mobile

Nextiva is looking for a Software Engineer III – Mobile with strong expertise in React Native, TypeScript, and modern mobile application architecture.

In this role, you’ll be a senior, hands‑on engineer responsible for building and evolving mobile experiences across iOS and Android. You’ll lead complex features from technical design through production release, make thoughtful architecture decisions, and help improve application performance, reliability, and engineering quality.

You’ll work closely with product, design, backend, QA, engineering leadership, and other engineers to deliver scalable mobile experiences. You’ll also help raise the technical bar through code reviews, engineering standards, reusable patterns, and mentorship.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, release, and maintain high-quality cross-platform mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript
• Lead complex mobile features from technical design and architecture through implementation, testing, release, and production support
• Design scalable mobile architecture and reusable components that support long-term product development
• Build and evolve VoIP, calling, mobile calling integrations, and related voice capabilities
• Integrate mobile applications with REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication systems, third‑party services, and backend platforms
• Build reliable experiences involving state management, offline functionality, push notifications, and complex application workflows
• Identify and resolve mobile performance, reliability, security, and scalability challenges
• Debug complex production issues across iOS and Android environments
• Develop and maintain automated tests and monitoring practices that improve application quality
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and reliable mobile build and release processes
• Conduct thoughtful code reviews and help establish engineering standards and best practices
• Mentor junior engineers and support the technical growth of the broader engineering team
• Partner closely with product, design, backend, QA, and engineering leadership to turn product requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Evaluate technical tradeoffs and communicate decisions clearly across engineering and cross‑functional teams
• Use AI‑assisted development tools responsibly to improve engineering productivity while maintaining strong standards for code quality, security, testing, and technical judgment

What You Bring

• 5–8 years of software development experience
• At least 3 years of hands‑on React Native experience
• Strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and cross‑platform mobile development
• Hands‑on experience building VoIP/calling features or mobile calling integrations, with an understanding of the performance, reliability, and user‑experience considerations involved in delivering production‑grade voice capabilities on iOS and Android
• Experience designing scalable mobile application architecture and reusable component libraries
• Proven experience building, releasing, and maintaining applications for both iOS and Android
• Strong knowledge of REST/GraphQL APIs, authentication, state management, offline support, push notifications, and third‑party integrations
• Experience with mobile performance optimization, security, automated testing, monitoring, and production debugging
• Good understanding of Xcode, Android Studio, native build systems, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex features from technical design through production release
• Experience conducting code reviews, defining engineering standards, and mentoring junior engineers
• Experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar tools responsibly
• Strong communication, technical decision‑making, and cross‑functional collaboration skills

AI Literacy

We’re looking for engineers who know how to use AI as an effective development tool while maintaining strong engineering judgment.

• Use AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar tools to accelerate appropriate parts of the software development lifecycle.
• Apply sound technical judgment when reviewing, testing, securing, and validating AI‑assisted code rather than relying on generated output without verification.
• Identify opportunities where AI can improve developer productivity, debugging, technical exploration, documentation, or other engineering workflows.

Good to Have

• Working knowledge of Swift, Kotlin, or native‑module development
• Experience with Expo, Firebase, Sentry, Crashlytics, analytics, and feature flags
• Experience with React Native New Architecture, Fabric, or TurboModules
• Experience integrating AI, LLM, voice, recommendation, or generative features into mobile applications
• Experience leading technical initiatives or supporting mobile‑platform modernization

What Success Looks Like

You’ll be successful in this role if you can independently take ownership of complex mobile initiatives, make sound architecture decisions, and consistently deliver reliable production experiences across iOS and Android.

You’ll bring depth in React Native and mobile engineering while being equally comfortable troubleshooting production issues, improving performance, collaborating across functions, reviewing code, and helping other engineers grow.

Most importantly, you’ll help build mobile experiences that are scalable, reliable, and ready to support sophisticated communication and calling capabilities.
