Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation in Gurugram is seeking a Manager/Sr. Manager for Chiller System Engineering with 8–12 years of experience to lead thermal design, simulations, DoE, and component selection for water-cooled and air-cooled chillers.

You will own sub-assembly design, DFMEA, RRCA, DOE, and supplier coordination, drive project plans from concept to launch, and partner with cross‑functional teams to meet schedules and quality goals.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in Chiller R&D or design engineering.
• Strong Thermal design and component selection for chillers.
• Exposure to DFMEA, DOE and design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead thermal design & simulations for water/air-cooled chillers.
• Conduct DoE, select components like compressors and heat exchangers.
• Develop sub-assemblies, prepare BOMs, manuals, and training materials.
• Review drawings, perform tolerance analysis and DFMEA.
• Manage projects from concept to launch with cross-functional teams.

About the role : 8 - 12 years of experience in Chiller system Engineering and product design.

Job Responsibility

• Chillers product Thermal Design & Simulations/DoE for Water Cooled & Air cooled chillers Design and Component selection (e.g. compressor, Shell & tube heat exchanger, Oil separator, Economizer, EXVs, fan/motors etc)
• Chiller Test/ qualify the product/ parts as per applicable standards and per reliability requirements.
• Design of the sub-assemblies and parts & development in coordination with suppliers Prepare BOMs, Launch literature (Installation & Service manual, Training manual etc).
• Drawings review & tolerance analysis.
• Knowledge of Design process DFMEA, RRCA, DOE, DFM/A/S.
• Develop project plan and execute it for flawless launch.
• Engage with other cross functional team for execution of the projects.
• Program/Project Management for chiller products (concept to launch)

Requirements

Bachelors / Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Thermal Engineering

Experience Preferred

7-11 years in Chillers R&D

Essential Competencies/ Primary Skill Set

• Thermal system design & development for Chillers
• Experience of selection and integration of key components like compressor, Copper tubes, Economizer, Thermal design of heat exchanger (Shell & Tube, Fin & Tube, MCHX, Brazed plate type etc.) oil separator design/optimization etc.
• Design of the sub-assemblies and parts & development in coordination with suppliers.
• Chiller Prototype Preparation & conducting a DFMEA, DFA/M/S & Design Reviews at various stages.
• VAVE (Value Analysis Value Engineering) and product costing, should costing analysis
• Design and drawing review, review designs/ drawings and prepare Bills of Materials.
• Exposure of different refrigerants selections and properties (HFC, HCFC, CFCs , HFOs) Tracks and follow-up of all projects and provide status updates regularly.
• Product Innovation – identify relevant trends in products and initiate actions.
• Identify / evaluate opportunities and develop prototype post design simulations on software’s .
• Engage with other cross functional team for execution of the projects.
• Adherence to project time schedule, risk identification & mitigation

Desirable Competencies/ Secondary Skill Set

• Shell & Tube HE Thermal & Mechanical Design as per ASME Sec VIII Div-1 & TEMA-C.
• Test, Optimize, qualify the product as per applicable standards (IS16590, AHRI 550/551 etc) and Chiller BEE labelling.
• Exposure to chiller controls and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of system simulation software’s (e.g. HTRI, MATLAB etc) Knowledge of pressure vessels design and applicable codes (e.g. ASME/TEMA) Experience of Dimensioning & Tolerance analysis
• Analytical thinking, Problem solving, adaptability and strong communication skills.
• Self-starter who can work on his/her own initiative, balance demand load & prioritiz
