Job summary

NetApp Instaclustr Bengaluru seeks a Lead Software Engineer to guide a 5-10 person team building and operating a global distributed platform. You will own major aspects of provisioning, installation and reliability, while collaborating with product managers to set priorities.

You will work with Java, SQL and multiple modern languages, applying DevOps best practices to keep systems running smoothly across cloud providers and on-premises environments.

The NetApp Instaclustr development team is responsible for building, maintaining and operating the platform that allows us to provision and reliably keep thousands of distributed application servers running worldwide.

Job Requirements

8 or more years of commercial experience regularly delivering quality software and overcoming technical challenges.
Demonstrated experience with leading people.
Proficiency in Java, SQL and at least one other modern programming language - and openness to learning more.
Strong communication skills and a humble and collaborative nature - essential for working harmoniously with multiple teams.
A curious mindset with a keen interest in how your work will positively impact customers.

Working with a wide range of technologies and tools, such as: Java, SQL, Python, Typescript, Rust, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Debian, and more.

Responsibilities

Lead one of the teams of 5-10engineers that makes up our product development team. You can expect that some of your time will be spent helping your team head in the right direction, and some will be spent being hands‑on with our technology and systems and doing your own development tasks.
Take end to end ownership of one or more aspects of our managed platform, which takes care of the whole lifecycle: provisioning infrastructure, installing applications and, most importantly, keeping the applications running reliably in production.
Work with a Product Manager to set team priorities, and work with a senior software engineering manager to plan and manage the work of your team.
Develop the skills and careers of the engineers in your team.
Work with other Lead Software Engineers to support each other in developing complex solutions or agreeing on the best approach to solve problems which affect everyone.
Apply DevOps best practices as part of a global team that operates 24x7. This may include participating in on‑call support roles to assist in keeping our management platform running smoothly.

Education
