Job summary

TE Connectivity Corporation in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Manager of R&D / Product Development Engineering to lead the Round Contact System NPD team. The role focuses on directing large NPIs, coordinating cross-functional projects and advancing technology readiness to meet future market needs.

You will drive the technical roadmap, collaborate with product managers, and ensure robust, cost-effective designs while managing a global team across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Engineering and/or mechanical with progressive NPD experience.
• Master’s degree or higher may be preferred with minimum 5 years of related exp.
• 10+ years of experience in Product Development, preferably in connectors.
• Knowledge of Commercial Vehicle or Automotive terminal and connector products.
• Experience with terminal and connector requirements & testing; PPAP/DFMEA recognized.

Responsibilities

• Act as global technical leader for Round Contact System engineering and ensure robust design and reuse.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to develop product strategies and roadmaps.
• Own the technology roadmap to enable future market success.
• Drive engineering excellence and manage staff development.

Job Overview

We are seeking a manager to lead the NPD engineering team for our Round Contact System Portfolio located in Bangalore, India. This position will lead a large sized NPI/ NPD , projects and/or supports Advance development projects to improve technology readiness level.

Job Requirements

• Act as global technical leader for Round Contact System engineering including ensuring solutions are mechanically and electrically robust, best practice is followed, and design reuse is leveraged.
• Maintain a deep understanding of Round Contact System applications and market trends including the assessment of competitive and emerging technologies.
• Actively collaborate with Product Managers to develop and evolve product strategies and development roadmaps.
• Own the technology roadmap and ensure that it enables future market success.
• Identify engineering investments needed to meet growth and earnings forecasts.
• Drive a culture of engineering excellence and manage competency, technical skill mix, and continuous development of staff.
• Responsible for performance goals following organization strategy, review and provide feedback to team members often.
• Ensure tight integration and cooperation of engineering with other internal teams such as Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management, Project Management, Sales, and Finance.
• Coordinate the deployment of resources to best address dynamic priorities .
• Implement new engineering initiatives.
• Ensure process compliance for engineering deliverables inline with New Product Development stage gate process (LEANPD).
• Participate in cross functional workshops, Kaizen events to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
• Travel as required to production facilities and customers.

What your background should look like

• Bachelor'sin Engineering and/or mechanical with a progressive experience in New Product Development.
• Master’s degree or higher or equivalent may be preferred with minimum 5 years of experience in related fields.
• Experience in managing team of engineers in a global scale.
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Product Development preferable in the connector industry.
• Knowledge of Commercial Vehicle or Automotive terminal and connector products.
• Experience with terminal and connector requirements & testing.
• Understanding of connector manufacturing processes including stamping, plating, molding, and assembly.
• Knowledge of Transportation industry standard quality processes such as PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, 6sigma, DOE, 8D).
• Experience with design for rugged environments including sealing and vibration resistance.
