Job summary

Wadhwani AI LEHS is a non-profit institute delivering applied AI solutions to improve public health, agriculture, education and urban development across underserved communities in the global south. The MEL Officer will design MEL plans, oversee data collection, and drive data-driven insights for program improvements.

This full-time role requires a Master’s degree and at least four years of M&E/quantitative research experience, with proficiency in R, Stata or SPSS and strong data-management

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in development studies, demography, statistics, or related subjects.
• Minimum of four years post-qualification M&E/Quantitative research experience.
• Proficiency with R, Stata, or SPSS for data analysis.
• Experience in data management including cleaning, standardisation, maintenance, and reporting.
• Experience with donor-funded programs in education or social sectors is desirable.
• Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams in a multicultural environment.
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop the overall MEL plan, logic frameworks, and work plans.
• Lead field monitoring visits and collect qualitative insights during data collection.
• Lead data processing, cleaning, analysis, visualization, and presentation.
• Develop research protocols and obtain ethics approvals (IRB/REC as required).
• Prepare reports, presentations, and templates for internal use and dissemination to state/national levels.
• Ensure data confidentiality and privacy in all activities.
• Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Description

The MEL Officer will develop of MEL plans, logical frameworks, and work plans; oversee data collection through field visits; lead development of research protocol and seek ethical approvals; conduct data analysis; and prepare reports and presentations for internal use and dissemination. The role requires flexibility to support other tasks as needed.

This role involves close collaboration technical and program teams to ensure robust data systems, quality assurance, capacity building, and the translation of data into actionable insights.

Roles and responsibilities include:

• Develop the overall MEL plan, log frameworks, work plan
  
• Lead field monitoring visits and assist in gathering qualitative insights during project data collection activities
  
• Lead data processing, cleaning, analysis, visualisation, and presentation
  
• Develop research protocols and ensure approval from the required Research Ethics Committee and local IRB (as required) ensuring the protection of human subjects
  
• Develop of reports, presentations and templates for effective internal use and dissemination of reports at state & national levels
  
• Function with utmost sensitivity towards data confidentiality and privacy
  
• Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
  

Requirements

• Education: Master’s Degree in development studies, demography, statistics, or related subjects. MEL experience in education is preferred
  
• A minimum of four years of post-qualification M&E/Quantitative research experience and demonstrated history of practical skills in monitoring and evaluation of donor-funded programs in the education or social sector.
  
• Solid grounding in M&E frameworks, research design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, and statistical analysis, including proficiency with tools like R, stata, or SPSS
  
• Demonstrated experience in data management including data cleaning, standardisation, maintenance, collation, analysis, and reporting
  
• Experience in report writing and development of proposals for business development with a variety of domestic and international donors would be an asset.
  
• Skilled in successfully working with geographically dispersed teams and working in a multicultural environment.
  
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Suite
