Job summary

Bhaikaka University is seeking an experienced oncologist to supervise the oncology medical unit and ensure patients admitted receive the best possible medical care.

The role includes clinical leadership, coordination with the General Medicine Head for treatment planning, and supervision of trainees. Strong communication skills are essential for patient and family interactions and for managing the health care team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of structured residency training in Medical Oncology.
• Oncology DrNB/DM or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise an oncology medical unit and ensure patients receive the best possible medical care.
• Provide clinical leadership and promote a team approach to patient cases.
• Coordinate with the Head of Department of General Medicine to plan optimal treatment options.
• Supervise training of allocated trainee medical students and medical officers.
• Ensure competence in acute oncology emergencies and participate in continuing medical education.
• Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients and families, addressing doubts professionally.
• All duties assigned by the HOD/Management from time to time.

Role & responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• To supervise an oncology medical unit and ensure that the patients who are admitted get the best possible medical care.
• Participate in providing services and ensuring supervision of medical staff present in the oncology department.
• Provide clinical leadership and always try to ensure that there is a team approach to a case.
• Work with the Head of Department of General Medicine so as to plan and ensure the best possible options for the treatment of cases.
• Supervise the training and practice of allocated trainee medical students and medical officers.
• Ensure that there is a high level of competence in acute oncology medicine emergencies. For this, he/she must participate in continuing medical education since their qualification.
• To be sensitive to the patients' needs and coordinate between the families and relatives of the patients while explaining the best possible treatment plan for the patients. If the family or patients have any doubts, he should try to clear them up.
• Excellent inter- and intra-personal communication skills, so that he/she can manage his team of health care providers, while also managing his patients and handling their doubts in a Professional manner.
• All other duties assigned by the HOD/Management from time to time.
