Responsibilities

  • Supervise MMU staff and conduct periodic training.
  • Ensure inventory and supply management of medicines and reagents; maintain confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with health department staff and local authorities to strengthen community engagement.
  • Adhere to organizational guidelines and participate in team/management meetings.
  • Prepare and present operational reports and ensure compliance with government rules.

GENERAL

Job type: Contractual for 1-year, renewable basis project requirements.

Reporting to: Project Manager.

JOB PURPOSE

The Medical Officer will be responsible for medical check-ups of the serving community through Camp duties at MMU following the visit roster, treating and providing consultation to the patients and maintaining. The Medical Officer will analyse medical check-up data and conduct regular inspection of equipment's, maintaining the inventory of medicine required at MMU. S/he ensure compliance of the requirements and protocols as per Govt Rules. S/he will present the data to management and make suitable action plan.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Clinical Care & Service Delivery
  • Ensure the efficient, diligent, and compassionate delivery of preventive, promotive, and curative primary healthcare services at the MMU OPD.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat patients while adhering to clinical protocols and operational standards.
  • Provide medical consultations and counselling, including blood pressure screening and dietary modifications, to ensure treatment adherence.
  • Undertake home visits for critical cases, if required
  • Digitally and physically maintain accurate clinical records of all patients as per project requirements.
  • Streamline and compile clinical data in coordination with the Nurse, Pharmacist, and Lab Technician.
  • Update daily, weekly, and monthly reports for submission to the Project Manager
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the patient data and adhere the IPHS/IMC protocols for the treatment.
  • Issue clear and descriptive referral slips for patients requiring higher-level care.
  • Maintain detailed records of referrals, including reasons, patient details, and emergency notes, in both the referral slip and referral register/vehicle logbook.
4. Patient Counselling & Health Education
  • Provide personalized counselling to patients and families on treatment adherence, hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  • Track and monitor patients with chronic conditions and follow-up needs to ensure continuity of care.
  • Conduct health awareness sessions in the community with the support of the Nurse & Lab Technician, promoting improved health literacy and health-seeking behaviour.
5. Inventory & Resource Management
  • Supervise and manage the stock of medicines, healthcare products, and reagents to ensure availability without wastage or pilferage.
  • Ensure patients receive optimum benefits from MMU services.
  • Prepare trends of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
6. Community & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Coordinate and cooperate with health department staff, local authorities, and key stakeholders to strengthen community engagement and support.
7. Team Supervision & Development
  • Supervise and guide the daily activities of MMU staff, including the Pharmacist, Nurse, and Lab Technician.
  • Provide regular, need-based technical training to the MMU team to strengthen skills and service quality.
  • Support and collaborate with the team in delivering effective healthcare services.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and workshops.
8. Organizational Alignment & Compliance
  • Develop strong internal relationships through effective communication and collaboration with colleagues across all levels.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by the Project Manager / Management – Programs from time to time.
  • Share the success stories/anecdotes from the field.
Performance Targets
  • Provide medical consultations, counselling, BP screening, and dietary guidance to ensure adherence to treatment plans.
  • OPD to be conducted for minimum 24 days a month
  • Conduct OPD consultations and health awareness activities during scheduled special camps.

Educational Qualifications

  • MBBS- Registered with the Indian Medical Council.

Functional / Technical Skills and Relevant Experience & Other requirements (Behavioural, Language, Certifications etc.)

  • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in public health programs with good team management skills.
  • Candidate must have good communication skills in Hindi; the local language will be an added advantage.
  • Polite compassionate and empathic .
  • Ability to work in a Mobile Medical Unit set up, in all weathers and conditions
