Srmap is seeking a hands-on mechanical engineering candidate to contribute to aircraft mechanisms and assemblies from concept through production. You will build and test prototypes, perform basic load calculations and tolerances, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.

The role emphasizes 2D/3D CAD proficiency, basic FEA, and the choice of manufacturing processes like composites, molding, and CNC machining. Office-based in Bengaluru with travel and practical hands-on work.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed mechanical engineering degree.
• Hands-on BAJA/ FSAE/ robotics or similar build team experience.
• Familiar with 2D/3D CAD software.
• Basic understanding of load calculations, tolerance analysis and weight budgeting.
• Strong in either mechanism design with actuation scripting or composites/structures modeling.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Support the design and development of mechanisms and mechanical assemblies for aircraft, from early concept through production intent
• Build and test prototypes hands-on
• Assist with load calculations, tolerance stacks, basic FEA, and weight budgets to validate designs
• Work with composites layup, injection molding, additive manufacturing, and CNC machining to select appropriate manufacturing processes
• If focused on composites/structures: model and design composite structures including laminate design, layup optimization, and structural analysis
• If focused on mechanism design: select actuation hardware such as servos and stepper motors, and write scripts to drive and test them

About You

The company is looking for:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in mechanical engineering or related field
• Real hands-on project experience in BAJA, FSAE, robotics, or similar build teams demonstrating mechanism design or composites/structures work
• Working familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD
• Basic understanding of load calculations, tolerance analysis, and weight budgeting
• Strength in either detailed mechanism design (including actuation hardware selection and scripting) or composites and structures (modeling and analysis)
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to work hands-on with hardware
• Clear communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external vendors
• Willingness to go the extra mile when projects require it
