Job summary

Yield Engineering Systems in Coimbatore is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to help conceptualize, model, analyze and validate hardware for semiconductor equipment. You will design mechanical components using metals, ceramics, and plastics, and coordinate with suppliers to meet cost and performance goals.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience, proficiency in CAD and SolidWorks, and strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes used in the semiconductor industry.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Participates in conceptualization, modeling, analysis, development, documentation and test/validation of hardware for new semiconductor equipment.
• Designs and develops mechanical components and mechanisms using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings/plating.
• Works with suppliers to ensure parts meet performance and cost objectives.
• Maintains knowledge of automation parts like actuators, sensors, valves.
• Conducts feasibility studies and analyzes performance and reliability of systems.
• Reviews design drawings for completeness and accuracy; may develop test plans and characterization data.
• Creates reports/presentations to communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews.
• Collaborates with other departments for design review, procurement and assembly.
• Ensures design specifications meet regulatory standards (SEMI, ANSI, DIN).
• Provides technical guidance to team members and stakeholders.
• Troubleshoots mechanical issues during manufacturing, build and testing.

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer II

Location: Coimbatore

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Participates in the conceptualization, modeling, analysis, development, documentation, and test/validation of hardware associated with new semiconductor equipment.
• Design and develop mechanical components and mechanisms for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Design parts using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings/plating’s, and so on.
• Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives.
• Knowledge of various automation parts like actuators, sensors, valves, so on.
• Knowledge of various Materials and their applications.
• Conduct feasibility studies and perform analysis to assess the performance and reliability of mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of machining, welding, sheet-metal fabrication processes
• Assist in the development of new processes and techniques to enhance the efficiency and performance of semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Review of Design drawings and specifications for completeness and accuracy
• May develop and execute test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design.
• Develops and presents reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews.
• Collaborates with other departments for design review, procurement, and assembly of mechanical components/ equipment.
• Work with appropriate departments to ensure that design specifications meet or exceed all applicable regulatory standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders.
• Ensures documentation is consistent with SEMI, other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.), as well as best known methods for GD&T; accordingly, demonstrates knowledge and ability to properly utilize them.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical issues that arise during the manufacturing, build and testing process.
• Application of Strength of materials, Theory of Machines, Heat and Mass transfer and Fluid flow principles to solve Engineering problems.
• Create ECO and co-ordinate with internal personnel to ensure smooth implementation.
• Gas Panel/ Gas Box Designing / Vacuum Chamber Design Experience - Added Advantage

Requirements & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field with relevant experience of 3-5 years.
• Proven experience working with mechanical systems, preferably in the semiconductor industry.
• Proficient in CAD software for design and simulation purposes.
• Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes used in the semiconductor industry.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to mechanical components.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work well in cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and precision.
• Ability to think out-of-box.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and mentor others.
• Regarded as a technical expert in their field.
• Proficient in the use of SolidWorks PDM
