Job summary

Veolia Environnement SA is seeking a Project Engineer to support mechanical and piping design for water treatment, effluent treatment, and ZLD systems. You will assist the South Asia team, deliver drawings, calculations, and data sheets, and liaise with procurement to ensure quality, schedule and budget adherence.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years in related fields, preferably in water/wastewater design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in a related engineering field, preferably in water & wastewater treatment design.
• Experience with water treatment and process equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Markup and check engineering drawings including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment general layout drawings and plant layout drawings.
• Perform calculations to size and specify equipment (hydraulics, piping, vessels, pumps, tanks, etc.).
• Review customer specifications for equipment selection and complete data sheets.
• Coordinate with procurement to evaluate bids and approve vendor documentation for rotating and static equipment.
• Prepare fluid schedules, piping specs and list of valves and piping components.
• Engineer systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Support procurement, fabrication, installation, and operation of project equipment.
• Document engineering designs and BOMs in SAP and project records.
• Participate in QMS processes (design review, HAZOP, FTR) and site visits.

Job Description

Role Summary

The Project Engineering team is responsible for the mechanical & piping designs of Water treatment plants, Effluent treatment plants and ZLD systems with advanced technologies. In this role, the Project Engineer will assist the South Asia team in the various execution responsibilities listed below and will liase with them to deliver to quality, schedule and budget targets and communicate proactively so that project risks are mitigated.

Mark-up and check engineering drawings including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment general layout drawings and plant layout drawings (drafting of these drawings will be performed by separate Mechanical Design team).

Perform required calculations to size and specify equipment, including (but not limited to) plant hydraulics, piping, chemical feed systems, vessels/tanks, pumps, filters/strainers, mixers, blowers, compressed air and chemical feed systems.

Review and interpret customer specifications for equipment selection and complete equipment data sheets as required.

Work with procurement to specify, evaluate bids and approve vendor documentation for rotating equipment & static equipment (eg. HX, crystallizer etc.), heat exchangers, chemical feed equipment, major subsystems, minor equipment and piping components.

Prepare fluid schedule, piping material specs, pipe service matrix, equipment list, Valves (Auto/Manual/control etc.,) & minor equipment list and piping line lists as required.

Engineer systems in compliance with engineering principles, customer standards and specifications, contractual requirements, and local applicable codes.

Provide technical support to activities involved in the specification, procurement, fabrication, installation and operation of specified project related equipment and designs.

Ensure that all engineering designs, bills of material and technical data are completely and accurately documented by reviewing associated engineering drawings and SAP system entries.

Meet Quality Management System (QMS) requirements for project execution and documentation including participation in Process Validation, Design Review, HAZOP, and Release for Fab meetings as required.

Interface with execution team (other Project engineers, Mechanical Designers, Process Engineers, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineers, Project Manager) to ensure accurate and timely information transfer and issue identification and resolution.

Site visits and customer meetings for project technical requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related technical discipline.

5 or more years of experience in a related engineering field - experience in water & wastewater treatment design is preferable.
