Job summary

alfanar Group in India seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to develop mechanical designs, drawings, and BOMs that enable efficient fabrication, assembly, and production processes.

You will create 2D drawings and 3D models, perform design calculations for strength and thermal aspects, review specifications, and coordinate with production to ensure manufacturability and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical design and development.
• Experience with creating BOMs, 2D drawings and 3D models.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs including enclosures, sheet metal parts, assemblies, and supporting structures.
• Perform design calculations related to strength, material selection, and thermal considerations where applicable.
• Create 2D drawings and 3D models using approved design software and prepare fabrication drawings.
• Review and verify mechanical drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, and alignment with BOMs.
• Coordinate with production teams to ensure designs are feasible for fabrication and assembly.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and testing stages.

Job Purpose

Support project execution by developing mechanical designs, drawings, and BOMs that enable efficient fabrication, assembly, and production processes.

Key Accountability Areas

Project Launch and Initial Preparation

• Attend project launch meetings and review mechanical scope, requirements, and constraints
• Prepare job files in accordance with departmental procedures
• Review contractual, technical, and specification documents related to mechanical design

Mechanical Design and Development

• Develop mechanical designs including enclosures, sheet metal parts, assemblies, and supporting structures
• Perform design calculations related to strength, material selection, and thermal considerations where applicable
• Ensure designs meet project specifications, standards, and manufacturing requirements

CAD Modelling and Drawing Preparation

• Create 2D drawings and 3D models using approved design software
• Prepare fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed part drawings
• Apply standard drawing practices including dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications

Drawing Review and Verification

• Review and verify mechanical drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability
• Ensure all design requirements and constraints are reflected in final drawings
• Prepare and verify Bills of Materials (BOMs) aligned with design outputs and project requirements

Production Coordination

• Coordinate with production teams to ensure designs are feasible for fabrication and assembly
• Support production planning by releasing drawings and material requirements in line with schedules
• Ensure alignment between BOMs, drawings, and production requirements

Technical Support

• Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and testing stages
• Support resolution of design-related issues by reviewing and updating designs where required
• Coordinate with quality teams to ensure compliance with design specifications
