Job summary

ALTEN INDIA PVT LTD in Nashik is seeking an Engineer-Mechanical Design with 2–5 years of CAD design experience in the engine or heavy machinery sector. Qualifications

• Diploma-Mechanical or BE-Mechanical degree required.
• 2–5 years of professional CAD design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design/modelling engine components (pistons, crankshafts, blocks) in Creo.
• Model sheet metal parts (canopies, control panels).
• Create/modify 3D models and 2D drawings with GD&T.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to meet manufacturability and performance targets.
• Manage product data, drawings, and BOMs in Windchill.
• Participate in design reviews and perform basic validation calculations.

Skill sets needed:

• Experience: professional experience in CAD design, preferably within the Engine or heavy machinery industry.
• Software Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in PTC Creo (or similar parametric CAD software). Knowledge of Windchill for data management is essential.
• Technical Knowledge: Foundational knowledge of internal combustion engine components and their functions. Additional knowledge of Sheet metal components.
• Design Skills: Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in mechanical design.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Job description/ roles & responsibilities

• Design/ modelling in detail several of engine components (e.g., pistons, crankshafts, cylinder blocks) using PTC Creo software.
• Design/modelling knowledge in Sheet metal products (Canopy, control panel etc.)
• Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings in compliance with engineering standards, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet all technical and manufacturability requirements.
• Manage and control product data, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) using the Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical feedback to optimize component design for performance, cost, and reliability.
• Conduct basic engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., clearance checks, interference analysis) within the CAD environment to validate designs.
• Maintain accurate documentation and revision control for all CAD models and drawings
